Where does Miguel Cotto's career go from here?

After his defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto seems to find himself in the uncomfortable position of having to regroup and figure out where his career goes from here. At only 29, one would think he typically would have a few good years left, but after the wars he has been involved in that may not be the case. So what does NSB think the best option out there for Cotto is at the moment?

Personally, I think the smartest option would be to try to get the loser OR winner of Berto-Mosley in a fight next summer. If he wins, go from there...but if he lost it would probably be time to hang em up.

Miguel will needs some time away from the sport to regather. I wouldn't expect him to fight until April but it could be as long as lets say a 9 month lay off. Hopefully its only a lay off till maybe April or so and he gets in with a tune up fight and by the end of the year future fights would probably lead to either Margarito or the winner of Berto/Mosley.

Cotto needs some time off. He needs to take like a 2 year lay off but he will not do that at this point. He will fight next year and I would say against Hatton, JMM or loser of Mosley/Berto. My pick would be Hatton just because he would bring the most money and cotto even at this point in his career he would murder Hatton.

Cotto needs to restructure his entire corner, maybe get his uncle back or a high quality trainer like Steward. He should also take a year off, get his body healed up, then fight Marquez, Hatton, or possibly winner of Mosley Berto. Or, he needs to fight a tune-up and get a rematch with Marg, Marg took something mentally from Cotto that night and if Cotto's even able to get it back it has to be from a Marg victory.
