i don't blame him, decade is a pretty tricky concept, i mean you could say it's 10 years or 1/10 of a centry or errr... 2 half decades combined or 120 months. seriously, it's easy to get confused with all those numbers, yo.

So the first decade AD ended on December 31st 10 AD,(10 years later) not December 31st 9 AD as that would have only been 9 years later.
This is common knowledge to the civilized world, but hippies and the ******s on boxing forums refuse to acknowledge these facts.

if you want to debate the technicality that the calendar started with 1 AD, you would have the deal with the exact definition of a "year" and the concept of leap years if you really want to be exact. alot of time period measurements were simplified for a reason and yes were are all expected to use the simplified versions.

We started with year 1 and the 1st century
The 2nd century began with year 101 and was aptly called the 2nd century
The 10th century began with the year 901
The 20th century began with the year 1901 and ended on December 31st 2000.
The 21st century(the one we are currently in) began on January 1st 2001 and the first decade of this century will be completed 10 years after January 1st 2001, which will be December 31st 2010, not 2009!
