it was the referee's choice to stop it. He think it was already to much for Miguel. But for sure Miguel would have survive until round 12 that's what I think.

Yeah he could have finished, but he had no chance to win at that point and was in survival mode so letting him finish would have been allowing him to take a purposeless beating.....if anything it should have been stopped around the 10th.

Cotto's corner waved at the referee after the 11th, but was prevailed upon by Cotto himself. Cotto has not landed a single punch during the 12th. Cotto backpedaled at the start of the 7th, and refused to engaged. And finally, Kenny Bayless is a boxing referee and not an official fight timer, and therefore has the first hand account of how battered Cotto was.

Cotto only managed to get rounds 1 and 5 in my scorecard. He was systematically destroyed by Pacquiao after his 2nd knockdown in the 4th. All of these, points that it should be stop to protect Cotto.
I just rewatched he Top Rank version. After the end of the 10th or 11th (can't remember which), the commentators were saying Cotto's corner was waving at Kenny Bayless to stop the fight, but Kenny had his head turned away for some reason and didn't see them waving at him.

I think Cotto could of finished the fight.

Manny did take his foot off the gas around the 10th round and seemed content with Cotto lasting the distance.

I do kinda agree with the ref stopping it though, Cotto wasn't throwing anything, was constantly retreating and his face was badly beat up.

Should have been stopped sooner bu Cotto's corner. Cotto was a true warrior and obviously didn't want to quit like the Margarito fight. Respect to him, but it his corner should have stopped it.

You can't discredit this win and I respect Cotto taking the punishment around 8/9 where he could have just quit on his stool.
I agree. It seemed after Cotto came out for the 12th, the ref was just waiting for a good punch or two to stop it. Cotto probably would've survived to the end. Either way, there was no point at that jucture anyway, so I'm fine with it.

Sure he could have, but there was no point.

uhum, there was no fighting anymore.

it was a medical risk too.
