Man I'm a cotto fan manny fought a great fight now lets see him fight May Jr at 147 not 144. Cotto should fight one more fight and call it a day retire young, healthy and rich.

Dude Cotto didn't quit he was just getting beaten up, the fight could have been stopped early but Cotto carried on for the pride of Puerto Rico. He's a great man and has heart if you've followed his career you will know Cotto is a very tough cookie. Did you expect Cotto to go all out? He had nothing left by round 8 but still managed to get to the 12th round, i dont call that quitting man. Cotto fights for pride of himself and his Puerto Rican people.

Anyway, Cotto had a great start with the jab but his overconfidence, perhaps ego, got the better of him. The jab was constantly landing on Pacquiao and had he used it consistently, this fight might have been different. From the 4th round on Cotto's gameplan was terrible and he abandoned what was giving him good results in favor of a firefight. We all saw the result.

I think Cotto took a lot of unnecessary punishment and the corner did not do a good job. Honestly, after this I think Cotto should consider retirement because first the Margarito situation and now this. His style makes him get into battles and they take a toll on you. He's young and should be healthy. I don't know if he could be interested in rematching Margarito, but if so, he should retire win or lose.

I know some might disagree with me, but look at what happened to Erik Morales, who's one of my favorite boxers ever, because of the many wars he had. He was "old" at age 30. I don't think Cotto should get to the point where he experiences something like what happened to Erik.

I would like to conclude by stating that I'm not a hater. Some blind fans might think so, but I'm just thinking that there's something more important than the sport and that is his life. I was supporting Cotto 100% for this fight, but it was clear he could not adjust well, his corner was not up to the task, and the beating was probably worse than the Margarito fight. I would like to see him bounce back but I have my doubts about his chances. Well, thanks for reading and trolls, stay away. I have no time for nonsense.
I'm a cotto fan also but tend to agree with you. Too much punishment last 2-3 yrs. Also, his corner wanted to get out of cotto what he had no more and that is not good. He might need an experienced trainer if he feels he wants to continue. Much props to pacquiao !!

I think you'll see Cotto vs Floyd before you see pacquiao vs floyd. I'd like to see a mosley vs cotto rematch.

Cotto didn't quit but he wasn't trying to win the fight at a certain point. Santiago should have to stopped it by that point.

I was impressed by pacquiao however i was very dissapponted in cotto he needs a real trainer he was very undisciplined in that fight and it showed...Freddie was right about his green trainer....cotto didnt look sharp at all his defense was horrible and he tried to punch with a puncher and lost...

i wold love to see pac vs floyd because i truly belive pac is not that skilled he is very gifted with speed and power but his technique is not their...saying that a fight against floyd is interesting because floyd is more skilled but he doesnt throw enough punches and manny throws alot...but will manny get frustrated when he cant hit floyd and lose composer??? I wanna see this fight lets make it happpen at 147 champ....

Still, i want Cotto to fight again, i consider him one of the greats in boxing today, higher than punk floyd!
wow ur really confused cotto was a good fighter he is obviously not anymore to rank him infront of floyd only shows ur ignorance he has lost twice brutally.. I like cotto i think he was a good fighter with lots of promise however he needs a real trainer he needs to discipline his self and get the help he needs....he has no defense and alot of bad habits....he can become great again with help

I agree with your assessment. I too support Cotto 100%. Cotto lost his composure when he was knocked down the first time, he tried to regain it but Pac didn't let that happen. There were a few moments where he begin to find his rhythm, but Pac being Pac came back with those fluries. I can't really write more about this fight (it has to sink in a bit)...but I can say this...Pac did a great job sticking to his game plan, and is one hell of a fighter.

I see we agree on this one. I still think Cotto's decision to mix it up was not good. Perhaps after winning a few more rounds it could have been tried, but when the fight is still up for grabs and Pacquiao is starting to get confident and throwing more. If you watch rounds 1, 5, and a portion of 7, you see a much different fight when Cotto is being patient and throwing the jab. Still, Pacquiao ruled the night and props.

Cotto is my favorite but I'm not sure if he should fight again. Well see in a couple weeks though. He definitely deserves a vacation
