Pacquiao - Cotto Las Vegas Notebook: News and Notes

By T.K. Stewart - LAS VEGAS - Lots of activity here in the city in the run-up to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto title fight that will happen tonight.

What is clear is that Miguel Cotto is clearly playing second fiddle in this big fight. The talk around the on here is all about Manny Pacquiao. He is in the newspapers, the newscasters are talking about him on on television and the disc-jockeys love him on the radio. While there is no scientific evidence to support the number of people that have come here to see the fight – it appears most that are milling about are here to see Manny.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – then Pacquiao must be a happy man. There was a Manny Pacquiao impostor walking around the MGM Grand immediately after the weigh-in and he looks remarkably like Pacquiao. He was a close enough representation of the real thing to fool fans and one television network from the Philippines. He even fooled me for a second. Uncanny.

Pacquiao didn't have any problem making weight on Friday afternoon. He was ripped and ready at 144 pounds and he looked very healthy. His skin had a healthy glow to it and he was energetic and pumped. I was only a few feet from him and he looks very, very strong. I was surprised at how easygoing he is. He doesn't appear to be suffering from any case of the jitters. [details]

I seen cotto earlier In that morning and he didn't seen to have any problems. He was relaxed and as a matter of fact was at mcdonalds area , round 9am, I asked him bout his weight and he was guaranteed to make 145, he is ready and looked very trimmed, I'll agree with him on only one thing from the article, the system they have really sucks. U have one line at around 945 then like at around 1045 , it turned into a ball of people,

it seems like literally everyone who has faced cotto, even relatives of cotto's victims, seem to think cotto is going to be too much for pac. that's because cotto is a beast. boxing politics have convinced the public that pac is unbeatable or at least that he has little chance of losing this fight, but people on the inside who know first hand what cotto brings to the table, know the deal. pac is going down and its going to be considered a huge upset; IMO it's an upset of pac wins.

I thought Cotto was having a little trouble making weight a few days ago at his grand arrival thing. Still he looks in fantastic shape though.

And Pacquiao is fighting Mayweather Sr.? It's a mismatch, Mayweather Sr. by KO.

                    Both Fighters Looks Terrific..But...

..Cotto looks a little bit tense and Pac looks so relaxed. Cotto was looks more like DeLa Hoya @ weigh-in againt Pac. If Cotto enters the ring weighing less than 155 lbs. Pac will run over him I hate to see Cotto lose but this fight will never reach the 6th round. On of them will get KO'd for sure! I root fo Cotto but I just don't see him any style from him that will neutralize Pacman aside from being stronger, that's also a question mark because he had to drain himself. He will be tired going in to the 3rd rd. Pac is fast paced boxer who averaged 70 punches per rd...that's power punches! Cotto will have to catch him in order to win and he will get tired as he chases Pac He will be too busy chasing Pac and he won't see that left hand coming. Cotto will defintely be able to handle Pac's best punch for sure, the question is how long will he be able to handle Pac's high octane Pac attack..
Here is Cotto's dilema, The Quick Brown Pac that transformed into a Wolverine. I guess we'll find out in 16 hrs who is the better man.
To Bob Arum, you had to make this fight just to make sure Oscar doesn't make any penny this fall and put 2 of your best fighter going at each other tomorrow..nice move! Cotto losses, he's career is over, done! Pac losses, he will move on. Cotto's Career is at stake here..He will need a lot of luck not Pac like Santiago said.
I pick Cotto in 2 or Pac in 5.
