Z Gorres is in a Coma After Melendez Win in Vegas

I think his intentions were sincere, it was his execution that was wrong. He can't be that evil, mang. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he really wanted to give sympathies to Gorres' family, just like everyone in this thread.Comment

Dude, if you are in grief or sorrow and someone told you his condolences would it be ok with you? I think it's a NORM all over the world that when someone uses the word CONDOLENCE is someone has passed away.um..and that means what?
con·do·lence (kn-dlns)
n.
1. Sympathy with a person who has experienced pain, grief, or misfortune: paid a visit of condolence to the grieving family.
2. An expression or declaration of such sympathy.
^^^^has nothing to do with "death"....who is the idiot now?
I suggest that you use the word Sympathy or Empathy instead of Condolence w/c is more appropriate, prudent & respectfully to the recipient.Comment

man this is sad to hear. i hope all goes well but he'll probably never fight again. I saw his fight with montiel and this guy is good and he's a warrior unfortunate that someone of his talent will never fight again but its for the best hope he gets through with this..Comment

This is really bad, lets hope & pray that Z will pull through with this predicament he's in right now. But I'm afraid this would be his last fight. :-(Comment

Gotta disagree with you both, because of the present context.
In the same way that we distinguish between the uses of the
greetings "Good evening" and "Good night", based on custom
rather than dictionary definitions, the offering of "condolences"
has become associated with sympathy over a death.
Yes, you can still get away with offering "condolences" for
non-death related misfortunes, like losing a job or whatever,
but the above-mentioned association with sympathy over a
death makes it distasteful to offer "condolences" when there
is a present risk of death, as in Z Gorres' case.
Customs differ across cultures, and if Jiddu meant no harm,
then he meant no harm. He should however recognize that
the dictionary does not always account for cultural sensitivities.
"Good evening" and "Good night" are differentiated more on the
basis of custom than of dictionary defintitions, no? I can't
hide behind the dictionary if I make a loud, public comment that
I'd had "intercourse" with someone else's woman, instead of
clearly saying I'd had a chat with her.
T get back to what matters...
I hope Z pulls through soon and is able to live a full life without
any disabilities ...far away from boxing.
