  • Jerome Le Banner Continues To Multitask

By Jake Donovan - With his kickboxing career still ongoing, albeit in a bit of a tailspin, French heavyweight Jerome Le Banner has decided that one job isn’t quite enough as he has opted to once again give boxing the old college try.

Le Banner has now won two straight since returning to the squared circle this past May. His latest victory came Friday evening, easily disposing of pudgy Czech journeyman Ladislav Kovarik in two rounds in Deauville, France.

The bout aired live on Eurosport. [details]

It's a shame he didn't come to the sport sooner. He knocked out Matt Skelton, who managed to do quite well as a boxer. IMO Le Banner would've had a good shot at reaching a similar level of even higher, but it's a bit late in the day now I think.

I have heard that Don King offered him a contract in the 1990's when he was doing boxing but LeBanner chose kickboxing. Not sure if it's true though.

He had the physical tools but he doesn't take punches too well.

good fighter but not a great chin but right now he would still do pretty well in the heavy weights

well 27s hardly ancient for a heavyweight. Its true hes had 100 odd fights, and fights age you more than years do, but most were thai, k-1, mma etc, where the blows arent quite as concentrated on the head. I dont think its too late in the day for him to make a splash at all, and i dont necessarily think theres any rush (although he obviously does). I think he needs to make boxing his main and only focus though, if its not already, if he intends to do anything worthwhile as a heavyweight

The age listed is wrong I think. LeBanner is actually 37.
