Does Wearing Handwraps Under Your Gloves Give You Increased Power?

I know this may be a dumb question.......but I just boxed with my friend a couple rounds and he busted out handwraps.....the ones you use to hit the back with.....Ive faught him before but this time it seemsed like his hits were alot stiffer. I was wondering if it was a huge advantage for him to wear handwraps?

To answer your question, no. It doesn't give you more power. It can, however, allow you to deliver more of your power without fear of injury, which is probably the case with you and your buddy. He wrapped his hands so he could abuse you without hurting himself

I'd never, ever throw a punch with gloves on if I didn't have wraps. My hands and wrists are already ****ed up from my misspent youth, I wouldn't even consider hitting someone these days without protection, not unless it were absolutely necessary. The pain, and the healing time just isn't worth it.

To make the long story short... no, handwraps dont give you any power, they just protect your hands and wrists. And never start punching heavybag withou them. this goes to all the other bags as well.

hand wraps also fill the glove out better so when he hits u, the glove does not compact as much and u feel it a little bit more but it has nothing to do wit the power of the shot
a good axampl of this could be if u have heard of ppl holding a lighter in there hand when there having a street fight cos when they hit there fists are harder cos they dnt compact as much
wraps have the same effect on the glove
if u think of being hit wit a glove that is soft and maybe even a little lossed around the first its like getting hit wit a pillow (ovboisly on a smaller skale and a bit more **** behind it but u get what i mean)
now fill that pillow out wit some extra padding and whach them again theres a bit more impact

thats a long a silly way of saying when ur hands are wrapped it filles the glove out more lol

Wasn`t Trinidad accused of illegally wraping his hand or something before the Joppy fight. They said it made Tito`s hands like cement and they ( the Tito camp ) attempted the same thing before the Hopkins fight and Hopkins camp interjected and got it supervised. Tito`s camp went crazy claiming they didn`t want the hand wrapping supervised and as it turned out Tito`s power wasn`t a factor in the Hopkins fight!! Suspecious!
