36 minutes is more than enough time to sustain damage for the fighters. While I am also a fan of the 15 round matches, I am also aware of the condition that many of these fighters would be in while fighting those last 9 extra minutes.

Today many fighters dry out to make weight and then try to replenish their bodies with a large intake of water after the weigh ins. This will not completely rehydrate the body. Furthermore, during the drying out period to make the weight, the fluid that surrounds the brain and cushions the impact of the brain to the skull is depleted aswell. Then, during the actual bout when a fighter will often be left dehydrated, that fluid is then depleted even more, leaving a very unsafe condition to be fighting another 9 minutes.

Most serious injuries occur during the later rounds, when a fighter becomes tired or has just taken enough blows to drop any normal human being. These fighters are extraordinary in that way, being able to sustain the blows and not only remain on their feet but then return the fire in a dazed state.

15 rounds would be cool for the fans but I believe that it would ultimately lead to more tragedies in the ring. Give the A.M.A more ammunition and they will surely begin the attack of another proposed ban on boxing. 12 rounds is plenty. You will still see the heroic comebacks and you will still get all of the action as a tradional 15 round title bout would give you. For the better of the sport, what you will no longer get are the amount of serious brain injuries or deaths. Sure, they are bound to happen but why give them another 9 minutes to even get to that point..............Rockin'

I Think for championship fights it would be good to see 15 rounds of action. The ref's now day's stop most fights before any real damage is done. But saying that back in the old days it don't seem to have done no harm then? You can die running for a bus and you can die from smoking I think it should be the fighters choice!!

Name some fights that should have been 15 rounders

DeLaHoya-Trinidad Trinidad would've knocked DLH out if there was 9 minutes left

Morales-Barrera - We all wanted more

          Morales-Pacquiao - ***

          Hagler-Leonard

          Bowe-Holyfield

          Jones-Tarver

I think its a good idea, it shows if a fighter is conditioned or not.

nope, shouldnt happen. fighters today are too bitchy and too much of ******* to really take risks. and if 15 rounders are reintroduced, we will have a TON of boxers complaining, bitching, moaning, and whining about how its "not fair, and too dangerous".

fighters today are too soft for 15 rounders.

Not only to bring 15 rounds of "action" but also to extend rounds from 3 to 5 minutes!!! I mean - boxing is a tough sport and if you can't handle it, get the **** out of the ring! Don't get me wrong, I'd be the first one to take the challenge and box for very long and extended period of time. I think it show how tough you are. But I guess that's just me. I love it brutal, I love the blood gushing out of my opponent and I love when he suffers big time.If you worry about your "brain" try different sport! I wish I lived in the old times when a lot more in the ring was allowed.
