    Bring Back 15 Rounders?

What do you guys think? I was reading something about this the other day and I was like yeah they should. I think the guy was saying something about how it was a overeaction to a fight when a guy died in the 14th round. I think it was the Boom Boom fight. I think he said that the WBC dropped down to 12 but the other bodies held off for awhile until they bit the bate.

I guess the health of these guys are the most important thing but I think if we brought it back it would add a extra excitement to boxing and could halfway take it back to the glory days. Imagine if the Morales vs MAB fights were 15 rounders. Thats part of what I think makes the past generations seem better. It makes it seem more sexier. For example, we all want to see Floyd and Zoo fight and if it happened it would be great. Now, just think about if they announced this fight and they said for a bonus and to get some better PPV ratings it will be a 15 rounder. Wouldnt you love to see these guys fight for 15 rounds. I think it might even change people picks. Some who picked Floyd might say that Zoo would wear him down and KO him in the later rounds or some who picked Zoo might say that the longer the fight is, the better the chance for the boxer to win because the puncher would lose steam.

Picture this headline. Zoo stops Floyd by way of 14 round KO. And the fight reads as though Floyd was leading on all the judges cards after 12 but you could see the flow going Zoo's way. If it wouldve been a 12 rounder Floyd wouldve won but now Zoo is the undisputed #4# champ. Floyd fought so well and dominated most of the fight, winning 9 rounds on 2 of the judges cards but you could see Zoo starting to hurt him more and more as the fight went on and because of the extra rounds, he got the KO.

This happeneds often now days but with the 15 rounder we could see alot of different endings.

If this happened the ratings would start to get much higher and boxing would be much more exciting. The flip side is that it could ruin alot of fighters and make careers much shorter.

PS-I know it sounds like Chaves and Taylor but I couldnt help myself

Agreed, bring on the 15th round! I just got done watching Hearns Leonard II and Sugar would have owned his ass just like in thier first fight if had gone past 12. Also, I think it would add quite a bit of depth to the sport. Guys were tougher when they went through the 15 round grind. And as far as safety goes, I don't think 3 more rounds per fight will make or break a guy. My .02...........

as a fan of boxing in the 50's and 60's i would love to see a return to 15 rounds, but then again i have'nt got to fight! it would be nice if someone conducted a poll among present active boxers to see what they think. any pro's on this board got any views?

I think 12 rounds is safer, 15 rounds is too long.

What he said. You took the words right out of my mouth, man. It would be awesome if the boxers themselves cold vote 15 round fights back into existence, if they were so inclined. From a fan's point of view, 15 rounders were way better. It also gives the fighter that's behind, three more rounds too kick the other guy's ass.

it would be nice to make it 15 rounds for championship bouts, to make it more exciting... but not on all fights. 12 rounds for regular/eliminator fights... but also depending on the caliber of the boxers, and the hype they bring... if their match is highly anticipated, then they should make it 12... quite difficult though because it will be very subkective...

How safe do you want boxing to be? Boxing is inherently an unsafe activity. 12 rnds is safer than 15 rnds. 10 rnds is safer than 12rnds. 8 rnds is safer than 10 rnds., etc. That being said, you can still get your skull caved in ~ in the 1st round. It would tickle the hell outa me, if the boxers wanted 20 rounders. The boxers, like in the old days, would have to be very tough in order to compete at the upper level. We, the fans, would be completely dazed and amazed.

Besides being more exciting 15 rounders also carry a lot more risk for fighters to sustain brain injury. Now, I doubt any of you want any fighter to end up like G-Man.
