cotto was pulling his guard apart and not even capitalizing on it. Clottey was never phased by cottos power as evidenced by him continually pressuring cotto especially afer he was hit. He held cotto to below 25% connect rate and moreover jus didnt ge hit cleanly and certainly was never hur. Clottey isnt pac and takes a better punch, but that fight did not bode well for a cotto's got power argument

Fellas don't even bother with this dude, he is by far the worst poster on this board. I skip his every post. Idiot repeats himself all the time. How can someone have so much hate for Cotto is unreal.
He says that Cotto beat Clottey only to make him look good. "See I don't hate Cotto, I had him beating Clottey."Comment

check the link in my sig!!!!
I made an analysis of the punchstats... instead of coming up with your own analysis of the punchstats you cotto stans just bash me and make subjective arguments....
when you got something substantative to say, then you can say my argumetn is weak.
lolz!!!! its you cotto stans that are grasping at straws saying mosley admitted defeat when the words "I Lost" never came out of his mouth. When the best you can come up with is "Mosley said he probably won, not certainly" then your really grasping at straws. Then again, you don't seem to mind. You're not changing anyone's views but you've done a good job of convincing yourself.
when you got a vid of those words coming out of mosley's mouth, then you can talk to me about that particular argument. if you don't then I win.
what? did I bash cotto after teh cotto/clottey fight? I told you before and tell you again, I thought cotto beat clottey and I think cotto can beat margo in a rematch if he fights the right fight.
damn, you cotto stans are soooooooooooooo selective with what goes into your brain.
when did YOU start to watch boxing??? for ever example of a great fighters moving up in weight and beating other great fightesr, I can match and even beat you with great fighters who tried moving up in weight and losing to other great fighters!!!When did you start to watch boxing?? Have you not seen how many great fighters move up in class weight and beat great fighters bigger and stronger??
why do you think the age old boxing adage: the good big man beats the good little man!!!!!!
yeah, but pac is too small... just think about it... he bounced between 130 and 147 in one year. against hatton just earlier this year he officially weighed in at 138 lbs!!!! when was the last time cotto was officailly 138 lbs????Yeah and he also fought at 140 and 145 after that. Weight on which both Roach and Pacquiao have agreed it's the most comfortable for them because he was being drained at 135 and below.
the fact is that cotto will be too big and he has no excuse losing to a former 106 lber. The fact is that on fight night there will be aprox. 10 lbs differential, 1/2 height advantage and while they will share the same reach. Cotto has overcome more than that fighting in his own division against fighters like Clottey, Mosley and others.
he started his amatuer career at 105 lbs. that's not bias, double standards or bashing... that's fact.Yeah but you don't mention that Cotto started his boxing career at 105lbs and you don't call that biased, double standards or bashing Cotto???
how can you be a stan and be unbiased???? come on!!!! being a stan and unbiased are mutually exclusive, you can't be one and the other at the same time. The fact is that I have noticed how pathetic and impartial you are in other post but like you said I'm part of Cotto stans (and proud of it also but and unbiased person) so why should I follow you around those not involving Cotto, you are not worth it.
so what... I have to hug cotto's nuts like cotto stans in order to be unbiased????
GTFO!!!Comment

I don't hate cotto.
I truly believe cotto beat clottey!
now go hang yourself.Comment

Not saying that you are wrong because you do have good points but consider the opponent. Clottey has never been phased by anybody and probably has the best chin in boxing, so you cant take the risk of punching yourself out of the fight when you notice that your power has little effect and specially when that opponent has that type of defense where lots of your punches will be lost hitting the arms and gloves. That's also why the low % of connect rate. I agree that the fight was not pretty for Cotto but than again nobody will look good against Clottey even the power will be deceptive because of Clottey's great chin and strength who comes in on fight night at 170 lbs or more.cotto was pulling his guard apart and not even capitalizing on it. Clottey was never phased by cottos power as evidenced by him continually pressuring cotto especially afer he was hit. He held cotto to below 25% connect rate and moreover jus didnt ge hit cleanly and certainly was never hur. Another uninformed poster... I'll start with the comment that Cotto couldn't hurt Clottey, thus he must lack power. Clottey, had never been knocked down when he fought Cotto, ever. I'll take it a step further, in over 120 professional career bouts between Margarito, Mosley and Clottey (at the time Cotto faced them) not one of them had ever been knocked out. And in 120 fights, 1,140 rounds Mosley had been knocked down twice, by the same opponent and Margarito once. 3 knockdowns in over 1000 rounds of boxing, ANYONE expecting Cotto to beat any of these guys by a KO is simply idiotic. That's not to say it isn't conceivable that he couldn't do it, but it was very unlikely. Cotto gives a guy his FIRST knockdown in his career from a JAB and he doesn't get credit for his power, where do you people come from, really?cotto was pulling his guard apart and not even capitalizing on it.
Also, if you watch the Clottey fight in the 10th round when Cotto lands those two big counter lefts, the look on Clotteys face says it all. He was shocked at how hard they hit him and its no surprise that after that Clottey stopped throwing as much as he was. And yes, while Cotto was held to a low connect %, we're talking about a guy with possibly the best defense in boxing outside of Mayweather and that's not taking into account the fact that Cotto was fighting with one eye, and yet he still managed to win the fight because they are scored on a round by round basis for a reason. Clottey threw less but was more accurate because Cotto's defense isn't nearly as good as Clottey's. But Cotto threw more and landed near the same amount in almost every round which is exactly what you are supposed to do when a guy has that solid of defense, what other way is there to get around it?Comment

Its biased when it comes to Pacquiao-Cotto beacuse you only bash Cotto even when you you think he will win.
When did you start to watch boxing?? Have you not seen how many great fighters move up in class weight and beat great fighters bigger and stronger??

I wouldn't waste time on Pull counter in his mind he's always right and knows everything about boxing. Also, he can't accept the fact that Mosley lost to Cotto so that tells you something. As far as the weight is concerned Pacquiao may not be a true welter but Roach knows who's right for Pac, Only this time I think he made the wrong choice.Comment

I am right.
I do know my boxing.
pac did pick on the wrong elite WW... he is too small (former 106 lber).Comment

damn, you cotto stans are soooooooooooooo selective with what goes into your brain.
Enough years to know that it has works both ways bigger men beating smaller men but SMALLER MAN BEATING BIGGER MAN also and that's the part you don't seem to get.when did YOU start to watch boxing??? for ever example of a great fighters moving up in weight and beating other great fightesr, I can match and even beat you with great fighters who tried moving up in weight and losing to other great fighters!!!
why do you think the age old boxing adage: the good big man beats the good little man!!!!!!.
On fight night he was at 143!!!!
By the way define small.
Having 10 lbs, disadvantage fight night while being 1/2" smaller but with the same reach????
So I guess that a 12lbs 1" height and 3" reach disadvantage that Cotto had against Clottey cualifies as a smaller man beating a bigger man.
If Cotto did it, why a "faster, better skilled boxer" (as you well call Pacman compare to Cotto) like Pacman can't be able to do it. Oh yeah right, I forgot, its because there is an old boxing adage that wont allow it GTFOH!!!!!
As an amateur Cotto faced better world class opponents than what Pacman faced as a pro for his 1st 6 years while he was facing bums until he arrived at 122 and if you still doubt that, name me 1 only 1 opponent that PACMAN faced during that period better than Ivan Calderon, Kelson Pinto, Ricardo Torres or Muhammad Abdullaev who were fighters that Cotto faced as amateurs. Pacman accomplishments are great but from 106 to 122 he was facing "pro" boxers that would had not even had success as and world class amateur. Some countries do not have the infracstructure to have a great amateur programs and some don't even have any program at all and are really poor, so this fighter become "pro" just to win $25-$50 per fight and just because of that they call the "pros"
You can be a stan of any particular boxer and follow him unconditionally but at the same time admire the greatness of others while realizing the chance and probability of victory that your boxers opponent might have. that's how you can formulate and unbiased opinion. But off course you wouldn't know nothing about that!!!Last edited by prsi; 11-13-2009, 01:15 AM.Comment
