      At welterweight...

Can you guys help me out. I know Mayweather was great at junior lighweight and lightweight, but at welterweight??

He has fought Zab Judah and Baldomir that are decent fighters. Anyone else that I miss? Oh yeah Oscar and Hatton. Do I count Marquez? Oscar was at jm.

Cotto has fought Carlos Quintana (undefeated), Shane Mosley, Margarito and Clottey and also Zab Judah

Mosley fought Oscar de la Hoya and Vernon Forrest when both were prime welterweights, Cotto and even Winky Wright at jm.

Manny fought only Oscar at welterweight. And now Cotto.

The conclusion that Mayweather will blow away Pacman because of how easily he defeated Marquez. But wouldn't the domination of Oscar while Floyd had a split win against him show that Pacman can hang with Floyd??

      Just thinking.

That is one of the excuses that Arum will use to avoid putting Pacquaio in the ring with Mayweather. I may be the only one on this message board to truly noticed the language that Arum was using in this interview. When speaking of fighting Marquez, he said "that is very possible. That is a good option." When speaking of Mayweather, he said "if and when they fought,"

"That is very possible" vs. "if and when." It is obvious what is happening here. Arum will avoid a Mayweather fight and try to blame it on the negotiations not going well. He doesn't want to put Pac in with Mayweather. He knows Pac woudl get his ass handed to him.

I like it when people use logic instead of emotion to argue their point. I disagree with you, but i still like your argument and it makes sense. Keep in mind that Mayweather tried to secure a fight with Mosley when Mosley was in his prime. Mosley turned it down twice. He tried to secure a fight with Cotto at 140. Bob Arum said "NO WAY". Cotto fought Judah 1.5 years after Mayweather did. One could argue that Judah was not the same after losing in back to back matches to Baldomir and Mayweather. I think Mayweather will blow away Pac because he is a much more complete and better fighter and Pac is very easy to hit.

If Arum disagreed with that belief, he would have no problem putting Pac in the ring with Mayweather in what could be the most lucrative match in history. However, look at Arum's langauage in this story and what he has been saying lately. He wants no part of Mayweather for Pacquaio and won't make the fight.

In one of recent Arum's recent interview ,he was talking about negotiations with PBF for a fight with PAC.In another, he said he believe's Cotto,PAC and mosley could beat PBF.Assuming Arum is afraid to put PAC with PBF is plain ******.Come on,believing PBF will beat PAC and everyone is one thing but believing Arum would turn down huge pay day co'z he's afraid PAC would lose is ridiculous!!!

Those guys are big Welterweights and Williams is a fairly big 154 lber/small Middleweight. The size advantage that Williams has over all those guys is blown out of proportion.
I never said he was too BIG...i said he was a MW DROPPING down 2 weight classes to bully other fighters....mayweather, pac, Mosley, all these guys came from 130 or lower...and Williams started @ 160....

so what im saying is..why not move up in weight?..why is he cutting weight and he is still bigger than all the WW?..he see's an advantage....i mean damn At least Mosley, Pac & PBF MOVED UP!! they didnt move down to fight small guys

Because Mosley, Cotto, and Mayweather are better fighters and more interesting opponents than guys like Felix Sturm. Pavlik won't grow any balls. And everyone at 168 is tied up. You want him to fight Chad Dawson?
