Cotto is going to come forward, we all know this. It's no mystery what Cotto and his trainers want from him. He won't play counter puncher unless Manny forces him to.

Contrary to what most people believe, Manny will dictate the tempo of this fight. Because I have a feeling Manny is going to come out strong and very aggressive. Cotto does get hit with straight shots and Manny's left is like a missile coming at your head.

At the same time, can Manny keep Cotto off of him for 12 rounds?

To those of you who think Manny is going to KO Cotto easily, remember one thing. Manny isn't a true welter. DLH has a great chin, one of the most underrated chins in boxing. He said Manny didn't hurt him and I agree from watching that fight. Manny was hitting him at will but he wasn't rocking DLH.

Cotto, while he doesn't have the chin DLH has, does have a good chin. He has been hit by guys who hit much harder than Manny. Lagit welters like Chop Chop and Clottey. So I don't think that Pac will just walk through Cotto like so many people think he will.

At the same time though, the punch you don't see coming is the one that KO's you. Cotto wi ll have to find a way to stay away from too many straight shots.
Agree with your post, all except for Oscar's lies. Had he not been hurt, he wouldn't have quit on his stool. He is lying because of his embarrassment. Maybe it's possible he's also partly responsible for Hatton getting KO'd so damn easily.

Telling Ricky that Manny has no power? Priceless.

We'll have to disagree on that one. Porter is faster and more relentless from what I've seen.

He has power to trouble much bigger guys, no matter how talented or untalented they were. The opponent in his first pro fight weighed in at 170, too. Now, I know these guys he knocked out are not particularly special fighters, that's obvious, but still it is a feather in his cap.

Overall, I'm quite impressed with Porter so far, I think he's one to watch. Omar Henry, too. He seems like a very good prospect.

yes they are!! they should be ready for the big leagues 2-3 years..!!!

i really liked the interview with porter.. he did remind me a lil bit sugar shane... very humble.. and with his relation with his dad even more....

I just think the kid is just to small for 154, he looks bulky but somewhat soft or he doesnt sit well his punches ala BERTO....I consider him small not because of the size but because of his power.. ut i dont think he has the power at 154 to get respect from guys like martinez, santos, sergie...etc etc

but hes young .. theres plenty of room to improve and get better!!

but what I really liked is that hes humble.....

We also know that shawn porter and jose luis castillo are awesome sparring partners who bring alot to the table and manny been head up with them the last month. That will matter, but it won't decide the fight. I think for the people wh say he has never taken a ww punch he is taking bigger punches in sparring from people who have an incentive (if you knock manny down you get $1000) to put him on his ass with no avail. we'll c
Yea but getting hit in sparring from 14-16 oz gloves and full head gear isn't the same as getting hit with 8oz gloves and no head gear.

I think it will be a better fight than most people think. I'm very surprised that people are giving Cotto the respect he should be getting.

I think Pac wins but I think it will be a very tough fight for him, especially endurance wise. He better be in tip top shape to fend off Cotto for 12 rounds.

I disagree with you. Proof is in the pudding. Yes he was taggin DLH, there's no doubt about that. I'm just saying from what I saw, he never hurt, stunned or rocked DLH at any time.

He was hitting him at will but never hurt him the way you would think getting through with so many punches. DLH didn't come out of the corner because there was no reason for him to. He was a beaten man, he couldn't handle the speed and youth of Pac. He could have come out and kept getting hit, that's all that would have happened.
