Pac's sparring partners were better, but sparring partners help win, they don't fight for you. Cotto never uses big name sparring partners and he's only lost once. It must work for him.

Which ones? I have no idea, Mellow, you'd have to ask Kenny Porter (he was the one who mentioned it in a video interview) or Shawn himself. But the fact that he did this is pretty good. He has power to trouble much bigger guys, no matter how talented or untalented they were. The opponent in his first pro fight weighed in at 170, too. Now, I know these guys he knocked out are not particularly special fighters, that's obvious, but still it is a feather in his cap.

Overall, I'm quite impressed with Porter so far, I think he's one to watch. Omar Henry, too. He seems like a very good prospect.

These two would've been sent home after 1 round.

Cotto doesn't like to be challenged in sparring or you'll get sent home (see: Gato Figueroa)

Sparring can only take you so far. I don't know who had the better sparring and to think anyone knows is just a guess. You have to see the sparring that went on, the amount of rounds, how hard they went etc.

Cotto is going to come forward, we all know this. It's no mystery what Cotto and his trainers want from him. He won't play counter puncher unless Manny forces him to.

Contrary to what most people believe, Manny will dictate the tempo of this fight. Because I have a feeling Manny is going to come out strong and very aggressive. Cotto does get hit with straight shots and Manny's left is like a missile coming at your head.

At the same time, can Manny keep Cotto off of him for 12 rounds?

To those of you who think Manny is going to KO Cotto easily, remember one thing. Manny isn't a true welter. DLH has a great chin, one of the most underrated chins in boxing. He said Manny didn't hurt him and I agree from watching that fight. Manny was hitting him at will but he wasn't rocking DLH.

Cotto, while he doesn't have the chin DLH has, does have a good chin. He has been hit by guys who hit much harder than Manny. Lagit welters like Chop Chop and Clottey. So I don't think that Pac will just walk through Cotto like so many people think he will.

At the same time though, the punch you don't see coming is the one that KO's you. Cotto wi ll have to find a way to stay away from too many straight shots.

People knew about DLH chin thats why bhop went to the body to get him outta there. He got love for having heart and a strong chin which cotto gets none of. Chop Chop wobbled cotto bad and I guarantee he doesn't hit as hard as pac. but good closing point the punch u dont c will put u on ur ass so cotto should watch out. We also know that shawn porter and jose luis castillo are awesome sparring partners who bring alot to the table and manny been head up with them the last month. That will matter, but it won't decide the fight. I think for the people wh say he has never taken a ww punch he is taking bigger punches in sparring from people who have an incentive (if you knock manny down you get $1000) to put him on his ass with no avail. we'll c

cotto didnt need big name sparring partners, the sparring partners are used to imitate the rival movements. so i dont see the logic in saying that pac is gonna win just based in sparring.

Too bad its not going to come down to sparring partners. I really dont think you should compare Porter sparring Pac with full gear to the punches he will take from Cotto. Why does Cotto need experience from sparring partners when he has the experience of fighting the best fighters on the planet? All his sparring partners needed to do was follow the coach's instruction and make cotto work and thats what they did, nothing more, nothing less.
