Haye vs Ruiz: The Quiet Man is Ready To Fight David

Former two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz is back in the saddle. He is the mandatory challenger to the new WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. The fight will take place in the early part of 2010. Haye will need some time to heal his right hand, injured last Saturday in Germany during the title-winning effort over the 7’2 Nikolai Valuev. I wonder how long Haye will wait to fight Ruiz?

My guess is it will likely happen in the late spring or early summer of 2010.

John Ruiz is the mandatory challenger for David Haye's WBA title.

Futhermore you'd be nuts to expect that David Haye would choose a fighter on even Ruiz's level to make an optional defense against if he did not have this mandatory.

Scanning the WBA top-15 and knowing that a Klitschko fight is out of the possibility for the time being I would bet good money that if Haye and his new buddies King and Sauerland has their druthers the first defense of Haye's title would be in London against either Kali Meehan or Ray Austin.

In fact one of those matchups are what we are likely to see after Haye-Ruiz.

He has to fight a Klitschko at some point.
