I originally thought that PAC will be to fast but now I am thinking that Cotto may not be as shot as we think he is.
If he is a little shot then he looses

Maybe its all the hype behind PAC but I think this fight is headed for an upset.
Don't get me wrong, I love to watch manny fight and he is a good guy. Manny is very fast and the punches come in bunches and that is a big plus for him in previous fights. With Hatton, hatton fought a ****** fight. He did not fight like the hatton that fought floyd. Hatton came into fight scared and left himself so open that my 10 yr old neice could've tagged him. When you watch cotto he is not fast but handles fast fighters and does not waste punches. When i see fans knocking cotto or pacquiao, they are fans who don't appreciate boxing.

Indeed, I think we should judge the fight, not the boxers.

what? cotto got the fight because of how he looked in the clottey fight... if cotto looked invincible against clottey, do you think pac/roach would fight cotto?

I respect Manny for his career and meeting every challenge, just feel that fighting a 29 yr old who is a true welterweight who has fought Mosley, clottey and margarito is a mistake and sometimes fighters need to be grounded and realize that they cannot beat EVERYONE(Tyson, leonard, chavez, etc). Pacquiao is very fast but the body shots that will come his way will slow him to the point that he will be on the same level (speed) as cotto and that is when the 2 fighters will be separated. Right now i see Pacquiao winning first couple of rounds until Cotto feels him out and as always, Pacquiao will leave himself open and Cotto will take advantage of that and hurt him. Hopefully Roach is smart to protect his fighter and not let Pacquiao get too hurt. Right now i see a cotto win with a 8th round TKO but boxing is funny and if pacquiao does win i'll give him every credit in the world.

Pacquiao is a very good fighter, an ATG, just feel he should've not ventured into this weight class. Wish both fighters the best of luck.

That's why I get upset when casual people just pick Pacquiao based on his last two fights. It's not that I don't give Pacquiao a chance, but it's dumb to think that Cotto can be quickly dismissed.

Pacquiao is mainstream and has been in two extremely high profile fights, with huge results.

Cotto's last three fights weren't mainstream, less impressive than Pacquiao and he's looked "bad" in comparison to Pacquiao.

So celebrities and athletes are just going to pick Pacquiao...no suprise there.

Bert Sugar's take on the fight is somerthing more interesting. He's got Pacquiao, but on cuts. If there's any way Pacquiao beats Cotto, it's probably on that, as Cotto does tend to cut easily.

My take, as I've said (check my post history):

Pacquiao is looking more impressive each time out, he's quick, he hits hard, he throws many shots.

Cotto SEEMS to tire (note that he SEEMS), gets cut easily, and eats a lot of power punches. He was caught by Mosley and several times by a slower-punching Margarito (regardless of plaster). Plus, the psychological aspect, he's coming back to the scene of the crime in the MGM. I've said it before...way before all these countdown shows and whatnot. That could be in the back of his mind.

Regardless of Cotto's apparent weaknesses and Pacquiao's ever-growing aura of invincibility, I actually expect Cotto to pull off this upset and make these celebrities and know-it-alls look bad.

          Let's go Cotto!

Since Pac's amateur days, i've only picked against him once on his opponent and that was with Dela Hoya. I'm no fan of him, i just see where to put my money and so far i've been doing good.

Good post and I agree with you 100%...you have to use facts and reason in predicting a winner in this fight. I'm putting my money on Cotto as soon as we get there Thursday night. Once the money starts coming in it will make the odds more even simply because of the money coming in..This is enough to make the "so called' betting experts making the odds more even...

                well said

What was Barrera known for before the fight with Pacquiao??? Barrera was a Known Body Puncher especially the Left Hook to the Body. Did barrera ever landed that left hook?? Watch the 2 fights with Pac & get how many landed.

Cotto's a left hooker. DLH's a Left hooker, Hatton's the same, David diaz the same, I can go on & on.... and you will see that all Left hooker dominant fighters that Pac has fought... Pac Dominates!!!

It's very hard for Left hookers to land that Left hook on Pac. I been saying this for 4 years now. I see Cotto missing his left hooks on Pac all night long. Pac will end it around 9 rds as what Roach said. But My pick now is as early as rd 7 or 8.

The Problem??? Cotto will be facing Pacquiao who was known to KO even that Granite of all chins like DLH, Barrera & Morales. Pac also is not going to KO Clottey. He's going to KO Cotto!!!

I agree with the analysis. The only factor that could derail the Cotto train is a bad cut. I have no doubt that Pacquiao can win this fight; however, unless Cotto is diminished during the fight someway, somehow, Pacquiao will have to be better than regular Pacquiao to beat Cotto.

Strength matters. Cotto is a strong fighter. He's not just a strong fighter, he's one the strongest fighters at 147. This wouldn't be such a problem for Pacquiao if he weren't so good in so many other categories. He has the highest level of technical soundness in his punches, and even though his left hook is his bread and butter, he can tag you with overhand/lead rights, uppercuts, and very stiff jabs. His ability to adapt to his opponent is second to none, his timing is excellent, his defense- though often maligned- is good, and his chin is rock solid.

If Cotto were a Randal Bailey type strong, I wouldn't feel so confident in his ability to beat Pacquiao, but Cotto is tried-and-true elite welterweight in many categories. Pacquiao is going to have to bring his A+ game to beat him.
