    Pacquiao/cotto predictions analysis

I was talking to my 25 yr old son and asked him how his friends have this fight. He said many of his friends and co-workers are picking Pacquiao. But he also said that almost all are picking Pacquiao because they don't know anything about Cotto and they are picking pacquiao because of the hatton and oscar fight. If that is the case of most fans and most of the ones that bigpoppapump mentioned in his post of "predictions", then many of them are going to be very surprised. I'm a cotto fan but thought that cotto should've avoided Clottey because he makes the winners look bad.

I respect Manny for his career and meeting every challenge, just feel that fighting a 29 yr old who is a true welterweight who has fought Mosley, clottey and margarito is a mistake and sometimes fighters need to be grounded and realize that they cannot beat EVERYONE(Tyson, leonard, chavez, etc). Pacquiao is very fast but the body shots that will come his way will slow him to the point that he will be on the same level (speed) as cotto and that is when the 2 fighters will be separated. Right now i see Pacquiao winning first couple of rounds until Cotto feels him out and as always, Pacquiao will leave himself open and Cotto will take advantage of that and hurt him. Hopefully Roach is smart to protect his fighter and not let Pacquiao get too hurt. Right now i see a cotto win with a 8th round TKO but boxing is funny and if pacquiao does win i'll give him every credit in the world.

Pacquiao is a very good fighter, an ATG, just feel he should've not ventured into this weight class. Wish both fighters the best of luck.

It's been a while since Cotto's body punching has been affective against an elite fighter. He had no success in using his body attack against Clottey, Margarito but will be able to against the more elusive Pacquiao? I don't think so. Pacquiao ain't no defensive wizard but he is very quick on his feet, I really don't see Cotto getting to the body.

Nice post , I admire Both fighters , fan of both , And this is a very very very very possible scenario , The one that most likely describe how Cotto will take over , if anyhting ,cuz we know Pacquiao is a great fighter , and I give it a 50-50 chance for both , But I like this analisis. Could actually be spot on!!!!!!

I think Pacmans plans will change the minute he tastes a legit welterweight punch, hell.. Cotto might not even need to rely solely on bodyshots to break Manny down.

I guess we'll agree to dissagree. Cotto's body attack did have an affect on Clottey because after the 3rd round Cotto was a 1 eyed fighter but the body shots/punches that he was receiving from cotto slowed Clottey down so much that he could not finish off that 1 eyed fighter. Also, roach and people think that fighters cannot catch Pacquiao. Wrong, marquez went to the body and at times rocked pacquiao but his mistake is not following up when he hurt him. Barerra, morales and others have gone to the body but the difference is that their body shots are not on the same level as cotto's body shots.

Many say that Cotto did not look that great against clottey or mosley. People seem to forget that when a fighter fights another good fighter, he might win but not look so good, the competition is better. Pacquiao's biggest mistake is running and having the fans/judges see you as a runner. Pacquiao has gotten caught against the ropes and in the corner and this fight will be no different, just an opponent who goes to the body/head more than other pacquiao opponents.

I see Cotto coming out early & working behind the jab, which will blunt some of Manny's movement!!I believe that Cotto is gonna show very good countering skills as he just technically baffles Manny!!I think that Manny's sparring if for a big bull just pressuring kinda like with Hatton, but Cotto is gonna apply controlled pressure & look good doing it!!

What is funny is most people forget that or won't admit it ever happened. CLOTTEY has NEVER been knocked out or down BEFORE that fight.

I agree with this analysis. I think that Pac may have bitten off more than he could chew on this one. I have been pondering this for weeks now and I think that if PAC get hit flush by Cotto then he's going down. Cotto can punch.

I originally thought that PAC will be to fast but now I am thinking that Cotto may not be as shot as we think he is.
If he is a little shot then he looses

Maybe its all the hype behind PAC but I think this fight is headed for an upset.
