Says who? There was a time when having the WBO belt was considered not really being a champ. In Japan, the IBF and WBO are still not recognized. What is or is not the proper way to recognize champions has been in flux for most of boxing's history. At 126 and 140, Ring handed him a title which can stand in for lineage. I'll take that over some douche organization that, LOL, just handed out a suspension for cussing.Comment

Won the Ring at 40 too...if it was just the IBO, and Hatton wasn't linear, there would be no reason to even mention that belt.Manny Pacquiao has four world titles from different weight divisions from the Big Four sanctioning groups. Who he beat for the title is off to the right.
They are:
WBC Lightweight 135 David Diaz
WBC Super Feather 130 Juan Manual Marquez
IBF Super Bantam 122 Lehlo Ledwaba
WBC Flyweight 112 Chatchai Sasakul
Pacquiao has one world title from one of the two smaller world groups:
IBO Light Welterweight 140 Ricky Hatton
And the Ring Magazine Featherweight Championship makes six.
- 126 Marco Antonio Barrera
I believe the two titles discussed here are legitimate because Pacquiao fought the best fighters out there at the time, not because of who sanctioned it.
Here's more fuel for the pro-6 side: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/champ.htmLast edited by crold1; 11-11-2009, 07:49 PM.Comment
Manny
Pacquiao tried to win his 7th division championship fight, but was too much for him when Miguel Cotto from Puerto Rico showed the world why he is the best welterweight. Cotto dominate the fight after the 3rd round, advanced continuously and put too much pressure, which showed that Cotto was too strong for the Filipino. Manny Pacquiao was trapped in the corner and continued receiving so much damage until Freddy Roach throw the towel
to stop this uneven match. We have to recognize that Pacquiao was a very brave man and Cotto showed why he is the WBO welterweight champion of the world. Pacquiao was taken on stretcher to the hospital for evaluation; he looks beat up, but awake and responding to the question of the doctor from the Boxing Nevada Commission. COTTO WILL WIN IN 6-8 ROUNDS.
