Odlanier Solis Wants To Knock David Haye Out, Again

I love all these guys like Solis claiming they can take Haye out or that Haye's an easy victory. Haye gets knocked down quite a bit, and save for one fight years ago he gets up every single time and wins, most of the time by knockout. Solis is fat and has overrated boxing skills. I say Haye takes this slob apart within 6 rounds.
I find the Haye haters amusing too. It doesn't matter what they guy does, they hate his mouth/persona so much he can do no right in their eyes. When Haye pulls out of a fight they claim he's afraid. Just prior to his fights boxing fans bet on the other guy to outbox Haye and knock him out. Then when Haye wins they have excuses for that too. So and so was past his prime, was a nobody, Haye got lucky, someone got paid off, etc. etc. When these fail they fall back on "well the Klitschko's will knock Haye out". Personally I think Haye has the boxing ability and power to stop both brothers though I think those fights could go either way.
What has someone like Solis done to warrant a fight with Haye? Furthermore so people out there really want to trash Haye's abilities and claim someone like Solis or Arreola is going to beat him? I don't see that happening.
Haye's exciting and has rid of us boring as hell Valuev. Next he'll force Ruiz into retirement (hopefully duplicating Tua's performance) and then he'll challenge the brothers. Exciting stuff for a change!Comment

Solis really needs to get serious about his training and stop talking mess. Maybe if he keeps his mouth shut long enough he can drop the forty or so pounds he needs to lose. This isn’t the amateurs and Haye isn’t the same fighter. I can understand trying to set up a big payday with a guy he’s previously beaten, but Solis is putting the carriage in front of the horse by putting promotion above preparation.Comment

You put on muscle with fat. Solis is putting on the weight properly right now. This way when he gets to the klits he will have enough natural muscle. all the other smaller heavyweights always try to balloon up within a 3-6 month period, and thats not long enough. you need time for your whole body to get stronger and used to carrying the added weight. I'm sure he'll lose the belly in his next few fights. He's got the footwork and all around talent to give any heavyweight problems.Comment

Unless you’re doing resistance training, most commonly weight-training, you’re not putting on a significant amount of muscle. Given the way that most boxers train, and Solis’s very appearance, I doubt that he’s doing much to put on lean mass. Consider the fact that Odlanier Solis turns 30 in April. When you appreciate how difficult it is for a man that age to pack on lots of solid muscle -- without the use of anabolic steroids -- you have to believe that he’s put on an unacceptably high fat to muscle ratio. I will admit that he carried 271 lbs better than I thought he would in his last fight. But there’s no way a professional fighter with serious aspirations should be carrying that kind of weight around at 6’1 1/2”. David Haye is 6’3” and he beat Valuev at 217 lbs!You put on muscle with fat. Solis is putting on the weight properly right now. This reminds me of another point. It’s understandable that Solis, being a relatively small heavyweight, would want to carry a little extra weight. But c’mon! There’s only so much you can put on before it becomes excessive. In my estimation, every pound Solis carries over 230 is probably a liability. I have to conclude that he’s being negligent with his training, to put it nicely.
BTW, I agree that he has the talent to give any heavyweight problems. That’s why it's so irritating to watch him turn into the Michelin Man.Last edited by CubanGuyNYC; 11-09-2009, 08:46 PM.Comment

Maybe fighting the last guy Haye fought (before Valuev) and KOing him twice as fast, having 10x less trouble than Haye to do so?
This being said, I hate Solis for being such a big mother***er... He has all the talent in the world and he's just wasting it. He won't beat Haye simply because Haye will be smart enough to NOT mix it up in the first few rounds and then Solis will be rolling all over himself and Haye will start playing with him. Now, take 40lb from Solis and you will have the best HW in years.Comment
