  • nobody mentioned cotto-marquez or cotto-hatton after cotto's ring date with pacman on the 14th. but cotto, marquez and hatton's fans would love to see their idols square off to reboost their lost morale.

pacquiao-mayweather is inevitable unless mayweather chickens out.

    • By his answers and his boxing, Cotto is smart and level-headed...

One more mark of a great champion. He'll need every ounce of smarts he has to solve the Pacquiao puzzle. I'm betting he won't, though, and I'm willing to bet on it.

      Any takers?

      • Floyd beats everybody, but won't fight nobody. Why?

Floyd woulda, coulda, shoulda, but wont even fight them. Why? To him boxing is a business, not the sport that it has been throughout its history. But aren't businessmen also like fighters in that they are both risk takers? In fact, aren't the best businessmen those who've been willing to take the biggest risks in order to get the greatest gains?

Fact is, above lightweight, Floyd's record has been one that is averse to risk. He has great boxing skills, but the record shows a man who has more in common with street hustlers and hoochies who turn tricks than the great men of business.

I mean, since I've been on here I've grown to respect Cotto more as
a guy who comes to fight and has a serious work attitude more than
before but I still cannot see him beating Floyd. Cotto style is all wrong
for Mayweather. Cotto is too open and Floyd is too accurate AND Floyd
technically beats the breaks off Cotto AND Floyd defense I feel will
nullify Cotto main strength which is his power every other attribute goes
to Floyd and we all know that a big punch and pressure ain't enough in the
ring to beat Floyd. I would like to see Cotto/Floyd more than Pac/Floyd
but both good fights. It's funny how Floyd has been gone for 2 years,
comes back and beats an over matched fighter and is still talked about
as the biggest fight for either PAc and Cotto should either win.

Eight mil plus one? Really? I mean, what do you think he told Baldomir's handlers? "Please add a dollar or else I won't have a good excuse to avoid Margarito!" Yeah right.

Your second reason is more feasible. Obviously he wanted out - and he obviously didn't want to have anything to do with Arum or his fighters afterwards. But if that's the real reason he didn't fight Margarito, then why would he want to deal with Arum for Pacquiao? Hmm.

Floyd MIGHT be on a different level. We will never know until he faces a Prime Welterweight.

an apt metaphor of floyd's personality.
he said it himself,... the business side of his boxing.
and so he's vilified.....his own doing!!

win or lose, both miguel and manny will have a lot of options other than floyd.
manny can try 154 with even less $$...... for boxing history/immortality.

all's familiar....except now miguel is fyting the "pound for pound king"
that's all the difference that is necessary....
