Do you agree with Koncz: Pac would be great without Roach. Freddie? Not so much.

Roach is an overrated trainer. He can't learn defence.

Yoel Judah and Norman Stone would have done a better job with PAC

Manny would not be as focused without Roach, he has too many other interests. Manny would run over other trainers, Roach is a father figure to him; something that no other trainer could represent. Roach would not be as famous w/o Pac but Pac would not be as great w/o Roach either. 50/50

If Floyd (or Manny) was a Kronk fighter, and was trained professionally by Manny Steward, you don't think they would still be as great as they are?

Steward and Floyd are like-minded in so many ways. I think Floyd would be that great with you as his trainer.

As they always say about Manny and Floyd, you don't have to motivate those guys. Almost any trainer can teach the fundamentals pretty equally. It is the motivation aspect that separates good from great in most cases.

I sometimes spell it it defence. And flavour, and colour.

That is how they taught us in school: defence.

                    i voted 50/50..

but its probably closer to 60-40 for Manny....but there was no such option..so..

                    50/50

Aside from the valuable perspective of wisdom in the sport that Roach offers...Roach also offered, and still does to an extent, someone the American public could relate to more in the beginning of Manny's career. Manny may not have landed the big fights/matchups had he tried to come up in boxing through a different scenario.

And as for the flipside, Roach could be the best trainer in the world, but if he doesn't have a breaktrhough talent to mold, he's left twisting in the wind.

You don't think that Manny could find a father figure with Bowie? Or ****m? Or Joe G?
