    Bottom Line:

David Haye was afraid to trade punches with a Heavyweight who had not scored a KO in over 3 years and could not stop Jean Francois Bergeron.

I did suggest in the build up that Valuev's best strategy would be to rub dog **** into his chest hair and take the pretty boy out of his game with same old fashioned crap on the face.

Valuev is the Russian version of Fields. Both are just big guys with little speed and power, it's not like Haye beat a world beater in Valuev and he didn't even beat NV unanimously. Hopefully Haye will step up instead of fighting another bum like Ruiz but I doubt it. Haye is probably going to try to make as much money as possible fighting setups before he cashes out cold against a Klit bro...

this is the second time haye has gon to a decision in his entire career. and he has KOd guy, not broke them down and made them quit on their stools.. knocked them flat..

there is a saying in boxing that goes "win this fight and look good the next". meaning you cant always go in there and blast your oponent, sometimes you need to lay back and settle for a points win. when you are fighting a guy who outwheighs you by like 100lbs and you only have one hand.. i think your entitled to do that lol.
It's actually a good thing to go a full 12 rounds and get that full real fight work in for future hard fights, which Haye will undoubtedly have.

Was Haye fair in his comments about Wlad after he won every minute of every round and ten stopped Chagaev, who had never been stopped, defeated or even knocked down before? Did he give Wlad props?

Was Haye fair to Vitali after his fine performance against Arreola?

Haye's performance was not nearly so good. And Valuev may be big, but he's slow and not as good as either Chagaev or Arreola.

That was the first time I've seen Haye fight like that so lets give him a break unless he does it again

I don't normally dig though old posts, but it was rather interesting reading to see Tunney praising Haye only less than 2 years ago. :wnk1:

Besides what he said about your "boys" (just like Tyson, Mayorga, Vargas or Ali said about countless others in years prior), what else changed?

And he won less convincingly than a 46 year old Holyfield, who fought a younger, more active version of Valuev to boot. It took a miracle for Haye to win this title. First, Valuev had to "win" back his title from the man who won it from him (Chagaev,) without actually having to step in the ring with him. Then, Valuev had to get a hometown decision vs Holyfield. Then, Valuev had to go almost a year without getting stripped of said title. Then Haye had to get a wide UD from two judges in Germany, when most people thought it was a very close fight.

Now all of a sudden, Valuev turns into this "monster," and David's horrific performance consisting of running for a full 12 rounds, is spun into "he almost murdered the giant in the 12th." Mkay.

Cong**** David, enjoy your title for what will surely be a brief period.

Yes, it's true. At one time, I believed Haye would be good for the heavyweight division.

                      But in 2008-9:

                      - he fought only once in 19 months
                      - failed to fight two top ten heavyweights as he promised
                      - failed to deliver the London venue he promised for the fight with Wlad
                      - wasted Wlad's and Vitali's time
                      - lied to get out the contract with Wlad
                      - agreed to fight Vitali on HBO and then signed with King to fight Valuev
                      - lied about the terms of the contract with Wlad and Vitali to cover his cowardice, although his nuthuggers believed every word he said.

                      Haye is a snake.

Even his trashtalk is nastier and crueler, it's always personal. He never downplays another fighters ability, just his appearance, style, etc. He isn't funny like Ali, Tyson and Toney were.
