I'm not entirely sure, but Kessler's people wanted 168 or 172 because they felt Dawson was really a cruiserweight (he was 191 tonight, btw). Dawson's people wanted it at LHW.

No. Dawson's team expressed a willingness to fight Kessler at 168. Back then, they were pretty desperate. And it was Kessler who turned the fight down, citing promotional issues.

Yeah, I think Dawson's size plays a factor head to head but I don't think it's as easy as everyone is saying it would be. We'll have a better idea after Kessler-Ward.

All super six know, but come 2011 the question will be - will Kessler retire ? Fights like Bute and Dawson would be great though !

Agree....Dawson would UD Kessler....I personally would like to see Dawson vs. Ward....Ward is the real deal....my opinion....2nd best "boxer" behind Floyd....

Battling Nelson knows as much as anyone on Kessler and his issues. He stated in this thread thread that a catchweight at 173 was turned down by Dawson.

I reckon Dawson ud,but not wide. I think that Dawson is actually improving as a fighter,whereas Kessler hasnt been busy enough at a high enough level of competition. All that protracted wrangling over his contract has probably cost him the best time of his career.

So funny, not moron... Because even a 43 year old Hopkins would look impressive on anyones resume. And Calzaghe didn't need Hopkins, he already made you Americans look ******ed when he beat the best at 168 in Lacy(u all ****** his ****) and Kessler. Calzaghe also beat like 9-10 former champions, more then anything you could ever do you internet warrior.
