that article and argument is flawed. there is a thing called hype.

benny:"hey we should go watch that new movie, its looks hella good and every one is talking about it"

    cindy:"ya we should, lets go"

benny and cindy after the movie:"man that thing fucking ******"

                he wears purple and gold.

i'll root for him to do good.

i'll vote for him to make the all star.

                that said......he's a *****.

he didn't listen to kareem and got kareem fired.

                he always gets injured.

he didn't show up in the playoffs and had the nerve to have his PR people and agents call lakers GM office complaining about not getting enough shots in the finals.

half of his baskets is kobe and others spoonfeeding him layups and dunks.

he has the tools but i think he has no brain.

I think you read too much into things.

I don't think you're right about western fight fans having a feeling of superiority and hatred of losing to an asian. I speak to tons of boxing fans in NY (PR, Dominican, Mexican, Irish, Italian) and some English and German fight fans. I NEVER have heard anything about Asians not being able to fight or compete with the west. I never heard anything even remotely close such as "I can't believe this little Asian guy is taking out all these big [white/black/latino] dudes. Not to mention that many Latinos don't consider themselves part of the "west;" nor do many American blacks.

Furthermore. ever since Bruce Lee came to everyone's attention Asians have had a great rep regarding cultural fighting skills.

I'm going to assume you're calling Manny a hypejob.

I don't think he is, at all. First, he did win the fights and in spectacular fashions. Plus, he exceeded expectations with the way he won the ODLH and Hatton fights. I dont' think anybody thought he could win against ODLH and KTFO Hatton in 2. If you really think about it, he was underrated on those 2 fights. A hypejob is someone who's supposed to exceed expectations and then fail in delivering them, just like Benny and Cindy's movie. They were probably watching an M. Night Shamalayan movie. lol. Manny is not a hypejob at all. Even if you assess his career, I don't think he was expected to win 4 lineals or become a multidivision titleholder. That's hardly a hypejob.

I do think, Cotto is being underrated for their Nov 14th tussle. Although I'm rooting for Manny, I think Cotto's too big and too durable for Pacquiao. I think he's going to hurt Manny early.

I'm hoping Manny proves me wrong, though. Again.
