coming one pound over the limit is not being unprofessional. i expect him to come in at 146, very close to 147. i truly believe he will come a pound or two heavier.

people say he can do that if he has 2 mil to spare etc etc. thing is, he'll make up for those 2 million and way more with a victory over pacquiao. not only will he get those 2 mil back in endorsements and everything else that comes with fame and success but he'll be globally recognized as a true elite fighter. it will make headlines, people around the world will know who he is.

so it'd be foolish to say he won't spare 1 mil for global recognition as one of the elites, specially when he'll be getting that mil back with a victory. only in this case, he'll be getting the money back while being internationally recognized as one of the best fighters of our time. and that's priceless for fighters like cotto or pacquiao who love the sport and honor it as such. not like mayweather that treats it like a business, where money > recognition/legacy.

I think he should come in at 146 too. That seems like his most regular weigh in since coming to welterweight.

Didn't know you were capable of such post. I always thought you were a Manny 'hater'. Thanks for recognizing Manny just this once. Oh and yeah, a true warrior should worry more about his legacy more than the actual money he'll get in the fight. Because you were spot on this one, a great athlete will always get good endorsement deals and that's where most athletes get rich anyway.

Take Michael Jordan as an example, he's still the second highest paid athlete to date even if he's not playing anymore.

        Kewl huh?

Roach said that the fight will go on even if Cotto weigh 147lbs but anything above that, the fight will be cancelled

There's too much money involved for the fight to be cancelled if Cotto weighs over 147lbs. Manny Pac has the last word if he will fight not Roach. Pac has a lot of pride, and doesn't back away from any challenges, I expect him to fight no matter what.

To some degree, yes because he had a contracted weight and did not meet his end of the bargain. He too is fighting a smaller man but the difference is Pac was relatively close to the weight he needed to fight at while Mayweather fought a guy who had to add 15 lbs in order to make his fighting weight.

Fighting a guy who had to lose a few pounds to make the weight and not making the weight by a pound is a little better than fighting a guy who had to pack on 15 lbs and not making the weight yourself by 2 lbs.

What will happen is Pacquaio will refuse to fight him....unless he agrees to the stipulation that Pac wanted during the original negotiations -- that Cotto agree to stand in the middle of the ring with his hands down for 30 seconds of every round and allow Pac to hit him at will. After all, he doesn't have enough of an advantage by having the fight at 145, but still contending for Cotto's championship belt.
