  • Monte Barrett: "Nikolai Valuev Will Beat David Haye"

Heavyweight contender Monte Barrett, the man who stepped in the ring with both David Haye and WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev, is picking the 7'2 Russian giant to retain his title on Saturday night in Germany. Valuev stopped Barrett in eleven rounds, while Haye put him away in five. [details]

Can't remember Barrett knocking Haye down cleanly. I remember Barrett throwing hurtful punches onto the back of Haye's head while he was on the floor, and the referee giving him time to recover.

Haye has a decent chin. It's not great, but it's not as bad as people make out. His stamina is his biggest problem.

Erm Mark, the bit at the end "Haye said". I think that was Barrett talking about Haye.

      Weird article.

It wasn't really a clean knock down at all, the the 45 seconds to get up quote is ridiculous.

Wlad is roughly as powerful as Haye he says, yet neither are heavy handed - I'd be intrigued as to whom he does judge heavy handed.

haye is chinny and can be hurt

but everytime he has gone down he has had enough nouse to take a knee

which suggusts he is not massively hurt!!

barrett was slightly faded when david fought him, but haye never ever really fully connected on barret they were glancing blows!!

Just imagine if they were full power shots!!!!

haye knock out baby!!! the punches that hurt u are the ones u dont see

I think it's abit like comparing Margarito to Pac. Both must hurt, but Margarito is heavy handed and leaves his punches to dig in, while Pac snaps his pucnhes and comes back with another.

He's just pissed because Haye beat the **** out of him, but then again so did Valuev. His press conference with Haye was the gayest ****ing **** ever when he kept saying how him and Haye were both good looking guys. So weird and awkward, what an idiot.

So is he saying that Wlad doesn't hit that hard? I get the feeling he thinks none of them hit all that hard, but maybe I'm not really understanding him.

I will not try hide the fact that I am no Haye fan. And with that said I just watched the Haye-Barrett fight three times on You Tube and these are a few observations that I have made concerning the fight. I will start by saying that you are in major denial if you don't think Barrett knocked Haye down with a clean punch. He hit him with a left hand and Haye ended up on his rear end. Monte then hit him while he was down and everyone pounced on Monte for hitting Haye while he was down and forgot about Haye actually being put down by a punch. Remember even if a fighter gets hit on the shoulder and goes down it is still a knockdown. I also thought it was rather convenient that there was no replay of the punch that put Hyae down, I wonder why? And I will also say that I believe Haye is a bum. He is no doubt fast but I have seen UFC fighters that throw straighter punches then Haye. And I believe he gets most of his power from throwing wild looping punches. And if look at Haye in his corner between rounds four and five he was sucking wind big time. So, what kind of stamina will he have with that 320 pound beast leaning all over him? And there is one other aspect of the way he throws punches. Haye often leads with left hooks. And I just have to ask the question. What do you think will happen to Haye when he leads with left hooks when he fights a legitimate world class heavyweight instead of the Monte Barretts of world? I can honestly imagine Haye being impaled by the telephone pole like jab that Wlad has. And we may find out Saturday night because Valuev may not be the best heavyweight in the world but he a legit one and for such a big man I seriously believe his boxing skills are underrated.
