Possibly, but it's high risk as maidana is durable and dangerous for all 12 rounds

Even though Maidana isn't the most athletic or skilled I think if he fought Ortiz against he ko's him faster this time because of the mental aspect of what happened last time....Alexander is very green though good and I can't say how he would handle chino's aggression and power yet.

This would be a great tourney. I say Pac should be in the 140 tourney too. He isn't a welterweight, so he would prove to be the best at 140. I think Pac would not win the tourney if they had one for 140. However, we would never see him in a tourney like that. I'm hearing good things about Lamont Peterson.

Ortiz has all the tools to beat maidana but all the tools dont come together, If Ortiz fought smart and brave then he could of been dropping maidana left right and center without getting hit himself, and ko'd him late or humiliated him on the scorecards

If they could get the likes of

            Bradley
            Peterson
            Khan
            Maidana
            Holt
            Alexander
            Urango
            Malignaggi

to participate. That would be great, and if they could convince Manny Pacquiao to relinquinsh the 140lb crown, then the winner of this tourney would be the new 140lb kingpin. Plus all 8 of these guys are beyond solid fighters. This division might lack starpower, but it's deep in talent, youth, and interesting bouts.

Ortiz has talent no doubt but a key aspect of successful fighters is confidence....we have to see how sure of himself Ortiz is in the ring now. If a fighter doesn't believe in his ability the best won't come out of it no matter the extent of that ability or skill.

I left out Hatton because of his monetary demands and quasi retirement. And Ortiz because while he has tons of skills, I need him to prove his fighting heart to me. And this tourney will eat it up.
