The topic is not about nationalistic pride. The topic is about the contradictory statements of the Puerto Basuras

Yet, when you ask the Puerto Basuras why they think Puto is gonna win, they always say, because he's the bigger guy.

Because people who say Cotto will win aren't taking anything away from Manny win or lose. Most people who feel Cotto will win IS because he's the bigger guy, but not because he's taller or has a massive reach advantage. Its because Manny's never faced a real WW before, especially one who is quite possibly in the top 2 in the division in terms of power (I'd put Cotto/Mosley at top, any order.) Also, Cotto's shown he can handle speed AND southpaws, that isn't to say he doesn't get hit, however, Cotto's been hit by guys weighing 20+ pounds heavier than Manny and has never been knocked out in his career and knocked down once.

Speaking of which, I've never understood why everyone says Cotto's chin is so bad. Because he's been stunned in his fights? Manny's been KO'd twice and hurt a few times as well, but with guys far less powerful than Cotto. Granted the KO's were a very long time ago so that really doesn't matter, but Marquez just a year or two ago not only hurt Manny with the counter right, but a body punch as well. Cotto is far far stronger than Marquez, and Manny has shown that just like Cotto he can be hurt, the difference in this fight is Cotto is quite possibly one of the softer punchers Cotto has faced in quite some time.

Aside from his tune-up with Gomez and confidence builder in Jennings, the last four top names Cotto has faced were Judah, Mosley, Margarito and Clottey. I'm willing to bet that Manny has less power than all of them, except for maybe Judah but certainly not in terms of one punch but from volume. So yes, Cotto IS bigger but it isn't a knock against Manny. He can certainly win this fight because he's so blazingly fast and his movement and angles are one of kind. However, not only does Cotto have size but he's quite possibly the most versatile fighter in boxing today and can/has adjusted his way to victory and I just see the combination of power and skill beating Manny.

How bad would Cotto's rep really suffer if he lost though? He been fight the best in the division, regardless. always making the toughest fights. If he loses I think its a more positive reflection on Pac than a negative on Miguel. Jmo though.
