All this talk of Cotto being too slow sounds exactly the same as when he was about to fight Mosley and Zab. The thing you guys gotta remember is you don't have to be faster that the speed fighter to beat him. Nobody even mentions the double jab, Cotto's patience in the ring, his ability to adapt. All I hear is "Manny's too fast".
What's going to happen when Cotto neutralizes Pac's speed? I guarantee you Pac will revert to brawling while Cotto will take advantage and break Pacquiao down.
This is the toughest fight of Manny's career, and some of you are treating it like he's on the level of Hatton or Oscar to be embarrassed. You're setting yourselves up for a similar night like Cotto fans ended up having at the end of the Margarito fight. Watch...Last edited by Ravishing; 11-04-2009, 08:17 AM.

Just, jab jab,.....straight, walk around and repeat for another 10 minutes
then maybe, jab jab, hook.
to wildly change things up...jab jab, uppercut.
All his pad work is the same, and as exciting as his personality.
And for some reason, the way santiago holds the mitts irritates me.

I like the way people say that cotto is training weak or looks slow. He trained the same way for Judah, mosley, malinaggi, clottey. He goes at a normal pace and then brings it up at the fight. Accuracy, Jab, shot to liver, accuracy, jab, shot to liver. I hope Pacquiao takes Cotto lightly.

I wasn't so sure at first if Pacman can beat Cotto, it's more like a 50-50 fight to me, or Cotto as the slight favorite (in my eyes), but after seeing this video, and I'm sure Freddie Roach has seen this too, it will be Pacman's fight to lose, or should I say, it's Roach's fight to lose.
Cotto tends to take a tiny step, or more like a half a step when he intends to throw his jab. He tends to dip his left shoulder too when he plans to throw a right for leverage. He pulls back a bit when he's about to throw his vaunted left hook, like trying to built momentum for his punch. I'm hope he's not this slow in real time, or else...
I'm sure it will be a great fight come Nov. 14, and I got no horse in this race because I really like these 2 boxers. May the best man win!!!

But i'm thinking wrong move for trainer Joe Santiago to be holding the mitts up to his face like that, which he's probably been doing all training camp. Pacquiao is the same height as Cotto and will probably have a lower stance than Cotto. For santiago to make Cotto punch up to his height like that is adding ferocity to Cotto's punches but making them wide and leaving openings which Pacquiao may be able to take advantage of.

Try it.. hold mitts for someone shorter than you but stronger..and put it at his opponents height which would be shorter than you. Tell me how your wrists feel after...lol.. Mitts are for accuracy and working on combos.
people here make things up with out understanding the reasons why. thanks for the clarification.
