I like the fact that Pacquiao is very humble about his abilities. I don't think he's an ok fighter who trains hard, I think he was but has become a great fighter who does not do a lot of different things but he does what he does almost to perfection. His style is very unique and, other than Morales and Marquez, not many have been able to figure it out.

However, Pernell Whitaker was a phenom and simply had a set of skills that verged on the unreal. He lacked the power that Pacquiao has, but he had a great jab, footwork, and a defense that has to rank up there with the likes of Nicolinno Loche and Willie Pep. He also beat solid fighters like Haugen, Ramirez, McGirt, and great fighters like Azumah Nelson and should have been credited as the man who put an end to Chavez' undefeated record.

Hagler is, perhaps, the greatest middleweight ever and, if not, a consensus top 5 of all tme at 160. He had 12 defenses and beat Hearns and Duran, two ATG's.

I think calling Pacquiao the greatest lefty ever is a statement that has to be thrown out there with care because the company is a really select one.

the question is Manny the best southpaw of all time? The answer is no. And, I am a huge Manny fan. Whitaker is the greatest southpaw of all time. Manny IMO is ahead of Hagler as of right now. Bbut, even if Pac beats he is not ahead of Whitaker.

whitaker is a great southpaw and really deserving of his spot in the ATG list because of what he achieved. i appreciate his skills and reflexes, however personally i think he's a little too defensive for my taste. if not for being entertaining for making his opponents look silly, he's borderline mayweather boring for me. lack of power aint helping his case too.

I wish people would stop trying to look for an angle for Pacquiao to be the 'best ever'. Can't you just enjoy his accomplishments without trying to inflate them?

Whitaker is #1 in my opinion, Hagler is #2, Pacquiao is #3, but if Manny beats Cotto rest assure he will take over the #2 spot.
