Truth of the matter is Tito and Cotto don't seem to have any kind of relationship. In fact, I think this is the first time I've heard Tito predicting a Cotto fight. And I know Cotto doesn't really appreciate it when he's measured against Trinidad in any sense of the word (especially in terms of his personality).

One poster here said that there are a lot of Puerto Ricans that dislike Cotto and that's absolutely true. In fact, the last time I remember Puerto Rican's having such disdain for one of their own fighters was for Hector Camacho Sr. I still remember when Camacho and Chavez fought, I went to see the fight at a neighbour's house in Puerto Rico and all of them wanted Chavez to win.

Cotto gets a LOT of nasty comments in the PR forums... yes, he also has many loyal fans, but the truth of the matter is he'll never be as popular as Tito. In fact, if Cotto beats Manny convincingly many of them will say he just beat a smaller man... If he squeaks by they'll say he lost and they gave it to him or that he should've handled the small man convincingly. There's haters everywhere and the truth is that Cotto hasn't done a lot to placate that hate. He doesn't really care. And that's fine. His job is to offer entertainment INSIDE the ring, and he does that brilliantly.

i agree wit u 100, i dont hate cotto i think hes a tough guy with plenty of skills, but i have noticed that about cotto, its cuz his presonality is more private and un social to where tito was very fan friendly talkative and always thought puerto rico first himself second, i think miguel is self first puerto rico second which is fine

the love puerto rico had for trinidad cannot be compared to the love they have for cotto, its a mismatch similar to the cotto vs gomez fight, ricans to this day love tito more, when have you ever seen the puerto rican prime minister(whatever her name was) come out and back a sportsperson, she was backing tito all day, puerto rico has a public holiday when trinidad fights, trinidads stature in puerto rico and popularity was very similar to manny pacquaio's in the phillipines, remember when the US was trying to build a army base in caguas i think it was and trinidad was wearing a sign that said "no bases in puerto rico" before his fight with De La Hoya. If he starts to accept him more and supports him more I guarentee you everybody will see a huge rise in miguel cotto's following

Another reason Tito doesnt really follow Cotto is because theres heaps of rumours that Cotto doesnt behave like a champion in trinidads opinion, cotto supposedly goes out on weekends and gets really drunk and it ends up on rican newspapers and makes the whole country look bad when the boxing representative acts like this, could be why Cotto for a fighter whos had so many great wars never really got a great following

angelo dundee is rumored to have visited the cotto camp, apparently giving pointers to cotto how to beat the pacman.

but dundee's magic no longer worked. his pointers did not worked with delahoya.
