before he can even consider fighting in the Super 6, Dawson needs to finish his tour of fighting senior citizens.
this rematch with Johnson should finish it up, unless its a draw or Chad loses and wants a third fight.
If Johnson beats Dawson in the rematch he shouldn't give Dawson a third fight unless it is his most lucrative option. The only way I'd want to see a rubber match is if the fight is really close, and I thought Johnson won the first fight by a 7-5 margin with the 10th round a 10-8. That decision is a lot worse than what people try to pretend. Dawson's head was snapping back by every punch he got hit with, and he hardly ever blocked anything that Johnson threw when on the other hand Johnson blocked a good amount of Dawson's shots on top of Johnson never being hurt in the fight.
Yeah if I were Dawson I would want in on this too.
But you can't really call Dawson the best super middleweight in the world if he wins the tournament because he's not really a super middleweight, he's a light heavy. I would put the winner of Bute-Andrade in over him.
Yeah. i don't see how it elevates the LHW champ to go beat smw's. Including a guy who JUST moved to SMW.
Floyd got flack for fighting a LW, but some want Chad to fight a MW. What is the difference?
as for what's left, I don't believe not hurting your opponent is such a big deal
Taylor beat Hopkins without really hurting him and same goes for Williams over Margarito
watching again though and will get back to you when completed
Williams actually had some force behind the punches that he hit Margarito with more than what he gets credit for. And not only that, he didn't get hit as much as Chad did against Johnson. He also was not holding on for dear life ready to go to the canvass like Dawson was againt Johnson. He came back and won the twelfth round. Dawson got shut out the rest of the fight after he was hurt. That's not a good comparison.

Paul was doing his fair share of holding as the rounds wore on, not enough to cost him points but he was still holding some.
and got a pretty bad cut above one of his eyes
you said he hit Marg hard, but he didn't hurt him at all
and that's what im getting at. he def won the 12th round, but Paul didn't hurt Margarito during the fight.

what does winning the 12th round have to do with anything?
im not talking about fight comparison that Dawson-Johnson played out the same way Williams-Margarito
you said Johnson wasn't hurt once in the fight .. and im saying so what .. other fighters have won without seriously hurting their opponent and another example would be Williams-Margarito
I don't care that Paul landed more punches then Chad, or that he wasn't holding on for dear life
he still couldn't noticeably hurt Margarito but won the fight.
That decision is a lot worse than what people try to pretend. on top of Johnson never being hurt in the fight.
after just viewing the fight via youtube in 6 parts, I had it 6 rounds a piece for a draw
I don't see anyone pretending about the decision being bad because Johnson lost rounds in the fight (1, 2, 6-8) just as clearly as he won rounds (10-12)
so what about Chad holding on for dear life in round 10, fighters hold to stay up, and Dawson did it and survived the round, plus it wasn't even that long a period in the round. I don't think Johnson 3-4 good punches in the 10th were enough to make the round 10-8 sorry he needed a knockdown. Nice rally though
however 8-4 on all cards is pretty wide, but shame on Johnson for complaining like he did post fight. He sure plays the victim role well though, I'll give him that.
as one of the commentators said before the 10th round for Johnson to win, he had to do it decisively ... and being behind on the un-official scorecards 6 rounds to 2 after 8 completed rounds isn't decisive in your favor.
granted Johnson would fight better in the championship rounds
but after just viewing the fight, I have Johnson losing just as many rounds as he won ... and that isn't winning decisively.
sure he wasn't hurt throughout the fight but Johnson still lost his fair share of rounds.
