Miguel Cotto has 22.5 inch thighs while Manny Pacquiao only has 20 inch thighs BUT check this out PULLCOUNTER . . . Manny has 15 inch calves compared to the 12 inch calves of Miguel Cotto.
PULLCOUNTER did you SEE the Yankee Stadium Press Conference last month (9/10/09) if not then check it out on youtube. They were basically the same size during the face-to-face photo op (5'7 vs. 5'6.5) Even their chests are exactly the same size when expanded, 41 inches. So what if Manny has the bigger wrist and Miguel has the bigger fist, it is only an inch. I was surprised to see that they have the same sized neck at 16 inches. Whoever thinks that Miguel Cotto is some goliath of a welterweight needs to visit the HBO page, he is no Felix Trinidad Jr. If he tries to impose his size on Manny he is going to lose. Don't take my word for it look what happened to Ricky Hatton who walks around at over 175 lbs. Miguel should box first then fight and slug later in spots. Whoever fights the smart fight is going to win because Miguel is not that slow and Manny is not that small.
Yours was the only post that was realistic. This is no cake walk for Cotto , in fact i am not sure how much of a strenght advantage he will have; it may be negligible.
Conversely i think people believe Cotto is slow as molasses, you can bet he is holding back a little on the videos.
This fight if it makes it past the first couple rounds will be a ruff one on both guys.

Thanks old cat.
I have analyzed this fight every day it seems since mid-June. Cotto could be the perfect opponent for Pacquaio because of thier similarities in size, if Cotto were a huge welterweight with his skill set I do not beleive Roach would agree to coach this fight ... he sees something believe it!!! Imagine a 2000 de la Hoya facing today's Pacquiao ... it would never be permitted!!! However because Cotto has considerable wear & tear on him and he isn't getting any taller or quicker at this stage of his career this is an educated risk for Team Pacquaio.
For Christ's sake they both have 67' reach and the height differential is absolutely negligible (half an inch to Cotto at 5'7). I will say this again whoever fights the smarter fight will win on 11/14/09. Don't take my word for it check the tale of the tape and watch the Yankee Stadium press conference from September. Listening to PullCounter would have one believe that it was David vs. Goliath. Cotto believes he is a better boxer and I tend to agree with him. He can use his defense to box on his toes and control the tempo with his educated jab, different jabs - some for power and some for speed and frustrate Pacquiao's offense. I think Pacman will get flustered and begin to leap in/lunge at Cotto and follow him around while occasionally pounding his gloves together after his head snaps back. One can always switch gears and go into battle/attack mode later. Defense wins championships

Just finish watching the video of primerahora and Cotto is looking great. And there is still more training to do.
