How exactly was he lucky? He didn't get a robbery decision, he busted his eye up so badly. That had to be one of the worst cuts I've ever seen in any fight, and he did it with a perfect punch. The best part of it was that Lewis was about 5 years past his best, taking Vitali on 2 WEEKS notice!
The fight wasn't even one sided either, I personally wouldn't argue a draw, it was very close/entertaining fight.


Lewis didn't get lucky, Vitali's face just got unlucky due to Lewis' amazing punches! Lewis won by TKO and that's that.

Here's one of my posts from another Vitali/Lewis thread.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round, was getting outlanded and was hurt again later in the fight.

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission that night and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight. Vitali was the real winner of that fight, he battered Lewis into retirement.

Lewis promised Vitali a rematch

Vitali destroyed Johnson in 2 and the scared Lewis retired like a coward shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew Vitali would destroy him and tarnish his legacy.

None of this will change the fact that Lewis won by TKO!

I dont believe in lucky punches.

Even when RJJ one of my favs was Koed by an almost blind punch i dont believe in lucky punches, every fighter specially at Lennoxs Level trains hard for a life time day in day out to be brave and throw back punches even when suffering the way he was.... So IMO there is no such thing as lucky punches...

Maybe just unlucky boxers that got caught ahhahaha

Bro Lennox won TKO that is it you can't say nothing else. If they would of let that fight go on. That cut would of gotten worse. And, who knows maybe Vitaly losses his eye. And, probably wouldn't be the dominant fighter he is now. So actually if you think about it Vitaly got lucky that they stopped that fight
