But Cotto did much better against faster fighters like Mosley and Judah than he did against Margarito. I know Margarito has a high-workrate at times but he throws punches so slowly.
Do you find it odd that someone who punches so slowly gave Cotto problems?

yah,
but if you look at the possibility of plaster then it's different.
It was also the pressure, tallness and granite chin of Marg that really put it on Cotto though. That chin no matter what, was made of steel that night and Cotto coulndt hurt him at all to keep him away. There was always the option of clinching for Cotto, but Cotto being the warrior that he is, decided not to.
wasted a lot of energy in that option.Comment

If Margarito was using plaster, his chin even gets stronger since he was tiring Cotto down and sapping Cottos strength from him.yah,

How do you know? It was a close fight and if he was cheating that would make a huge difference. **** it, if Marg was using plaster without them he would have gotten his ass whooped. You don't realize how much power that was sapping away from Cotto if he was getting punched by someone who was cheating.Comment

He was losing the fight with the plaster on, but the plaster got harder and harder and Cotto got more tired cause of it. Cotto would've pitch a no hitter or knocked him out.
You know guns are not just shot to hurt people, but to defend yourself while your moving. If Margarito had no power on the those shots Cotto would've eaten him alive just like Mosley did. that chin would've gotten double the pleasure even if it would take him 12 rounds it was bound to happen, but the plaster changed the outcome. word life.Comment

Those were flashy punches that Cotto was landing but he was always fighting off the backfoot in that fight (Margarito fight) and fighting in that way makes it almost impossible to get real power on your shots (unless it is a real special fighter) that is why Margaritos chin looked to superb that night .
Margarito was just able to do what he wanted and Cotto got nailed with uppercuts which has always been a punch he got hit with. Margarito was hitting Cotto with full power shots consistently while Cotto was hitting him with nice looking shots that did not have full power but they still took a lot of energy to throw. It was an awful fight from Cotto's prespective nothing went right for him and he certainly did not fight the proper fight while Margarito did what he does.
Against Mosley and Judah Cotto fought much better fights although against Mosley he went into that backfoot fighting mode which is not good for him (it just looks bad). Against Judah Cotto took it to him which is the best way of dealing with Judah, against Mosley he boxed a little and fought some (it was a close fight) but he boxed effectively and Mosley can be outboxed though if he fought Mosley exactly like he did Margarito he would have had a lot of issues I reckon.Comment
