    mesi is overrated

i was once a fan of joe mesi, but now that i think of it, hes not that amazing of a fighter.
he hasn't actually beat anyone so great. he beat barret barely, and almost got killed by jirov if it went 10 seconds longer. i really dun kno how he was a WBC #1, when he still hasn't fought 12 rounds.
    your thoughts?

Who the hell has he beat? like mentioned, Jirov almost killed him. He recieved a gift decision over Barrett IMO. Knocking out an outgunned TOS is hardly impressive. I would not doubt that TOS was sleepy from eating a big meal prior to the fight. That would explain why he made the 200lb limit. Mesi needs to develop some "fleet foot" strategies, or he is going to literally end up like Kim in his fight with Mancini.

I am dead serious. If he faces a big puncher ala the Klitschko brothers, he is a dead man walking.........LITERALLY.

I would also like to see him rematch either Jirov, or Barrett.

yes i think if he gets into the ring with one of the big puncher's he could get badly hurt, jirov is not a big puncher compared to tua, rahman and the klitchko's

I think Mesi is overrated by the people who make the rankings but severely underrated by boxing fans. People talk about him as if he was the worst heavyweight in ages when in fact he displayed heart, power, skill, and even hand speed to a degree and put on some exciting fights. He beat Barret, who would later go on to dominate Guinn who people were building up as the savior of HW boxing at the time. Vassily is a good tough brawler and Mesi dominated him in a way (in the begining of that fight at least) that few can say they have.

No one is saying Mesi would ever be champion, but he would have made a good contender. A sort of less durable Botha.

i never really liked his chances in the HW
he should make sacrifce anfd try to fight at cruiser
i think hes to small to make any serious noise "as in put in titles in danger" at HW

Doesnt really matter if he is overrated or not cause he probably wont get in a ring again because of that brain hematoma
