Nobody mentions that he was smoked out by LaMotta in their first fight...

I've watched as much as I can of SRR and no doubt he was amazing but I can't really claim he's the best ever with such little amount of video I have.
here's a general rule... if you don't have enough info on SRR, then don't talk about him.

as this pertains to boxers of this generation, at best you can say they are the best of their era, but not the best of all time.

Actually Robinson won the first fight, LaMotta won the second. They were all close fights.

But he was knocked down by LaMotta, was he not? It was a 10-rounder.

dont get confused, back then alot of the people would be like the bums we have now
but i have no doubt in my mind roy jones would slaughter robinson 10 times out of 10

if jones had those thin as gloves there would be more broken ribs

It was the second fight in which he was knocked down through the ropes with a punch to the body.

                    Enough said.
The problem with the HOF part is kind of like the chicken and the egg. Does SRR's GOAT status increase because of the # of fighters he beat that went on to make the HOF, or are those fighters in the HOF because they competed in the SRR era.

Don't get me wrong, I recognize SRR as the greatest (and his record during his prime that you listed is among the main reasons), but don't necessarily agree with everyone from that era being HOF worthy.

Same with Ali and the top heavyweights of his era.
