Is Bernard Hopkins overrated?

A 6 foot 2 inch middleweight with a huge ko ratio that has to starve himself to make 160.

Just like the clowns trying to degrade the Trinidad win... Ridiculous.

You are aware Hopkins is not a Dominican, right? You don't have to defend him so vigorously.

Hopkins is a bit overrated. Only slightly.

He's easily lose to Jones or Calzaghe at any time in his career.

The bad style matchups for him are guys which are just as big as him but faster.

What are you talking about? He's 1/16th Dominican from his dad's, brother in-law's, cousin's side.

Nah, but a boxer on Hopkins' level should be commended, not downgraded. In the Trinidad and Pavlik cases, the weight issue wasn't as big a deal as the skill issue.

U have to understand Hopkins style to truly analyze him.

Hopkins is a stylist with good power, good speed and a very high Boxing IQ which borders on the dishonorable.

Im saying it coz Hopkins wont hesitate to use borderline, even straight up classless tactics like racism just to win, also he's a very dirty fighter.

But he gets the job done that way and throughout his career he has been able to go by without taking too much punishment. Ergo the reason why he's still very good in his 40's.

But for all Hopkins' skillsets inside and outside the ring, HE WILL ALWAYS lose to guys which are just as big as him but faster than him.

He will always have trouble with guys who are faster than him.

He's like the in-between-fighter from Jones and Calzaghe's type of speed to a Pavlik slow-grind style.

He's fast enough against most boxers, wily enough but not enough against the big tests. Hopkins made a legacy by fighting guys smaller than him and it's no discredit to him. Afterall he did beat them.

But his legacy will always be questioned, albeit only slightly.

FOr me Hopkins is a true HOF.

But a bit overrated.
