I have no doubt in my mind that Margorito's gloves were brimming with plaster. Cotto's face is absolutely ruined as everyone has said and even though his shots are very accurate and an accumilation of them would hurt, they were not thrown with enough ferocity to gash his face up like that.
Magarito gets those accurate shots in in round 9 because Cotto is already dazed from the plaster hardening up. Opening quarter - half of the fight Cotto is winning, and then when he gets rocked by the iron fists there is no going back.

IF he did use them in this fight then it is horrible to watch. It's almost sickening seeing Cotto getting hit with what could be plastered hands. Just before its stopped....when he back tracks into the corner and then goes on one knee without even being hit for about 10 seconds it really shows how much pain he was in.

notice how margaritos punches were badly hurting cotto everytime it comes in contact with the target.....

but if you look closer... you'll see those punches were being thrown with no real power behind it.... it looks as if he was only tapping , but it definitely made cotto's face a bloody mess.

There is no way to know which fights he used plaster and which fights he didnt or if that was his first attempt at trying to use it and got caught. Margarito beat Cotto's ass plain and simple, it's Cotto's peoples job to make sure everything is good and that is what they did Cotto has no one to blame but himself.

Why were Shane's people able to find the plaster and not Cotto's?

I saw this in another site. Just check the blood spot in the corner the plaster pad and it seems to match well margarito's hands wrap on the cotto fight in the region of the fifth knuckle.
