Cotto may have 2-3 good fights left in him. Why waste one away on Margarito?

Why should Margarito get the chance to overstep Shane or Floyd for a megafight with Cotto? Why reward Margarito for cheating and coming off a bad loss himself?

If Cotto manages to get through Manny, why should Shane be left out in the cold yet again?

The point is Cotto fighting Margarito again would be a good fight. If he feels Margarito is irrelevant though at this stage then that is his prerogative and I see his point. There are better options for him.

Shane Mosley has already stated his desire to fight Cotto outside of Madison Square Garden, and Cotto is the one that won't go outside of his comfort zone except for against a smaller guy who he thinks he can beat.

Comfort zone? He fought Margarito out of his comfort zone. Is Margarito smaller?

Point is if Cotto gets past Manny, and that is an if, his last options are Floyd and Shane. That makes Shane the #1 option by default because Floyd is living in his own little world. If by that time Margarito gets himself back into contention and Floyd still will not fight that winner, than Margarito gets a chance to silence the critics over whomever wins that fight.
