    that's dumb.

he fought marquez to help set up pac-may. pac beats hatton and delahoya , i'll beat the last guy who gave pac a tough fight.

plus it was a tuneup , so it was somewhat okay.

who the hell would want a juan diaz fight with mayweather? juan diaz barely got by paulie malignaggi at 138.5 he's gonna fight at 147?
I agree, but im just going to give you a what-if scenario..

What if Floyd wanted to fight Marquez to show how easily he could beat him so he doesn't have to fight Pacman..

Now I totally disagree with that, because it would go against what Floyd is all about, and that's making money..

but they are so easy to beat. fighting big guys is hard for him he said he almost quit against baldomir so right there that worries me.

Shane and Jin and Jack made their decisions. So now, SM wants to flip the late-career switch and seek out the big paydays. But Shane has no fanbase.

He spent the whole summer issuing (fake) media releases that a Pac fight was imminent. Quite frankly, that was embarrassing for him.

And I know that the guys on this board wet their knickers with joy that Shane asked floyd for a fight and interrupted the interview. Let me tell you how that played outside of the boxing world: not well for Shane.

To the folks who don't understand: Guys like Marquez, who can galvanize the Mexican fanbase, basically pay for themselves. Here's how:

Floyd-Marquez did about $7 million at the gate, i believe. The majority of the fans were Marquez supporters. Marquez was only guaranteed $3 million. So, in effect, he paid for himself.

Now, Shane has no fanbase. Shane was making less than $2 mil just recently. So anything that Floyd pays him will be coming out of Floyd's pocket.

i don't know about that what if.

may loves money and the pac fight would be the biggest payday for either of them.

i think floyd wants pacquiao. i think aside from money that was one of things he came back from retirement for.

I just think that both JMM and Moz are GBP fighters. And it seems that the JMM fight will be more commercially successful, and a more winnable fight for Pac.

closed mouth don't get fed. i don't think it was embarassing. people make too much out of it. whatever keeps you in the papers/forums.

even if he didn't get the fight he asked for......people still talked about him right? people were so busy talking about floyd/jmm/pac/cotto. he needed to get his name out there somehow. he might not gotten a fight but he got his name out there as a possible next opponent.

i don't want to talk about money , al. you know i don't care about that.

mosley is not bigger money than pacquiao or cotto or maybe even marg (mexican/chicano fanbase).

if mayweather fights one of those guys , no one should say anything because they are more money than mosley. simple as that. this is a business. boxers fight for the biggest money.

possible but jmm needs an impressive win beforehand to trump mosley as a better option for pacquiao if pacquiao beats cotto.

if pacquiao losses to cotto , then it'll be okay because both are coming off losses.

                  floyd should fight pavlik.

that'll be another belt in another division and very winnable.

call me crazy but i think floyd can beat pavlik.

Shouldnt the best fighters fight the best??

Since Floyd is viewed as the best fighter in boxing, Shouldnt Shane call out who Shane feels is the best fighter? I dont see anything funny about that. The reality of it is, Shane has Golden Boy backing him and if I am not mistaken, Floyd has his 3 biggest paydays with Golden Boy promoting his fights against Golden Boy fighters. Shane brings Golden Boy to the table and is a more popular fighter in the states than Marquez. If Floyd was gauranted 18 mil vs Marquez and Marquez was gauranteed 3 mill for a total 21 mil gauranteed pot. I can see at least at 30 million pot for a Floyd vs Shane fight with Floyd getting about 20 mil gauranteed and Shane getting at least 10 mil. Shane already said he wouldnt make the negotiations difficult and would give Floyd or Pacman the lion share. Shane wont prevent this fight from happeneing, Floyd will!!
