Miguel Cotto: "Antonio Margarito Lost all of His Credibility"

WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto has hit back at his rival, Antonio Margarito. During a recent interview with ESPN Deportes radio, Margarito expressed his desire to land a rematch with Cotto in the first quarter of 2010 - if the Puerto Rican star is able to beat Manny Pacquiao on November 14 in Las Vegas. He said Cotto has to take a rematch to avenge his only loss but the fight will end with yet another defeat. Margarito handed Cotto his only loss with an eleven round stoppage in July 2008. [details]

I'd still love to see the rematch, I'd like to see Margarito earn his way to a fight...fighting 2nd tier fighters and proving himself an honorable warrior. Maybe next year after a few fights and some credibility...they can go toe-2-toe in an epic rematch

it would be a great trilogy if they did fight,cuz I think they should have the next fight in new York at msg in June if old man arum will talk cotto into at least a 80/20 split in his favor. Then the 3rd match in late 2010.Imo he NEEDS to fight him again and win just to even out the score cuz a loss like that would have to be a burden that the only loss he has,he didn't avenge it, plaster or not.plus it would sell, but maybe not as much before January 09. I knew that MIguel wasn't going to give him a rematch, he doesnt' deserve it, he tried to put SHane Mosley's life at risk and i take that serious he could have killed shane I dont know why he didn't get sent to prison for that, i hope the csac doesn't renew his license.

No, the controversy makes him notable in a bad way yes, but notoriety is what sells fights....there is alot of $$$ in a heel fighters and especially a Cotto/Marg rematch.
