fighting a journeyman with no defense whatsoever ofcourse hes gon be accurate. look, kessler is a good fighter. he has the basics down, he has good power and a good chin. but hes flawed too. a guy like andrade isnt hard to look good against.

kessler comes in straight lines, a fighter with lateral movement wont allow him to get those combinations of. he does everything of the jab, so if a fighter can outjab him hes pretty much done. hes not that fast eighter and he doesnt have the best boxing brain.

ward is even more technicly sound, smarter, faster and hes very mobile. he can take that jab away, give kessler angles and outbox him all night. kessler had problems with calzaghes southpaw stance, and ward can switch.

kessler has a punchers chance, thats it. if he doesnt catch ward he gets schooled over 12 rounds.

Ward has a questionable chin combined with an over reliance on his handspeed. He's not fought any fighter with timing yet and this will be the reason he gets hit all night by Kessler.

I honestly think the key to beating Kessler is out-boxing him from the outside, because he doesn't seem to be able to do a hell of a lot to stop it if you're able to get your jab in before him.

Unfortunately for 99% of fighters, getting your jab in before him is impossible.

You could also make the case that Kessler has an over reliance on his jab; everything comes off it.

Ward doesn't necessarily need to out jab Kessler. If Ward can use his movement and footwork to slip Kessler's jab and counter him, it'll have the same effect.

You're talking about Ward as if he poses no problems. I expect Kessler to win, but Ward won't be easy for anyone in the Super Six.

I agree with you but Let's not forget when the going got tough for calzaghe in the Kessler fight,Joe turned boxer and beat Kessler.I think Kessler needs someone to stand in front of him more but once they start moving around it's easy to get those rounds.This is something Ward is able to do.Just do the basics,good defence and movement while bagging the rounds.

Dirrell did exactly this vs Froch and still got robbed. I guess this will work outside Europe but in the old continent, no way.

I'm picking Mikkel Kessler to win this one. As much as I want Andre Ward to win, I am not confident he can.Ward has superior skills compared to nearly all of the fighters in this,but Kessler will catch him-and Kessler's speed is being under rated here.When he throws his combos-they are fast and strong.He will beat Abraham and Froch.
The only way Ward has a chance is to constantly circle him (Kessler plants his feet when he punches) and throw 2-3 punch combos and keep circling Mikkel on the outside.The problem is,Kessler will eventually catch him,and unless he still has ringrust,then Kessler takes this.
On the bright side,Ward and Dirrell are being very under rated based on experience.Experience won't buy a win in this tourney as Taylor has the most experience with the elite,and we seen what happened against Abraham (a man who stand in your face blocking ala Winky Wright).Its styles that make fights-all of them have had plenty of fights amateur or pro,so I believe it is all down to styles and how each fighter exploits their style to the fullest.
