I feel bad for Pavlik, I'm a fan of both fighters and really wanted to see this matchup. Funny how many people talk **** about someone they dont know and have never met.

Not even close to being true, at least not on this side of the Atlantic. Athletes of all sports are dogged all the time for injuries that don't sound as serious as the length of time they spend on the DL, especially among those not particularly happy with their contract.

However, the difference is, a boxer suffering an injury means a fight/event gets canceled. An athlete in a team sport suffering an injury means someones plays for him, which may or may not affect the outcome of the game, but doesn't cancel/postpone it outright.

Look how many people say Pavlik is "scared" of Williams. It's pathetic.

Does that change his ignorance for not going to his doctor appointments? And what if it really is true he is scared? The infection is all the way out of his hand. He's supposedly healing from the operation process. He pulls out of the fight without at least giving it a couple more weeks for it to get better? I'm not buying it.

sucks that the fight is off, but i doubt pavlik is faking it. it's pretty damn hard to fake a staph infection since it's an actual bacterial infection that can easily be identified with a lab culture. This isn't one of those 'I hurt the tendon/ligament and there's like, uh, inflammation, and uh, it's not ready to go, so, uh, yeah, um um um...'

He doesn't remember the steroids doctors gave him to make the reaction subside.
                PavROID! PavROID! PavROID!

lol, nah that sucks big time if it's true. But I agree with other posters that if he nearly died, the fight should have been called off a long time ago. P-Will should have been informed about that so he could take another fight.

Hope pavlik recovers and is BUSY in 2010.

That's just typical message board bull****. I have a hard time believing that any real boxing fan believes Pavlik is scared of Williams or any other potential challenger.
