Im gonna tell you why.. A couple of reasons.. Before the Margarito fight, Cotto was the man. Eventhough didnt look great vs Mosley, and shocked a lot of people when he was clearly hurt and ran his way to a decision, the nuthuggers ignored the fact he was tired and hurt.. But anyway, even after that fight, Cotto a lot of confidence.. After the Margo beating he lost his confidence. And after a beating like that, it can ruin a fighter mentally and physically.. Cotto was a dead man walking in the late rounds of the Clottey, but Cottos running ability when hurt is second to none. If Clottey was a more aggressive fighter that threw more punches he would have stopped Cotto.. And a lot of people thought Clottey won that fight or atleast was a draw..

But to answer your question. Cotto isnt the same fighter after the Margo fight. Well thats the perception at least. We will find out when he fights an A fighter his size again.. But his upcoming fight we will find out somethings about Cotto. He should dominate Pac with his huge size advantage

Here is the actual interview http://www.elnuevodia.com/cottonolet...ch-629595.html
can someone translate it from spanish?
I don't know what to make about Cotto getting rid Gato. Cotto says Gato wasn't taking it seriously, then he says he was showing off. Which one was it?

same thing I was wondering. If he was that sounds like someone you would want in camp.

I think a more proper response to Vargas’s statement would’ve been “well, that’s just his opinion. He’s not the only one to think that I will lose and that’s ok because come Nov 14, I will prove him and all the naysayers WRONG”….but the way Cotto attacked Vargas was unnecessary..and it shows that it upset him…who gives a **** man? Just FOCUS…
And Roach is just bein’ Roach!
Now, as far as the actual fight to take place between Pac & Cotto, I like ‘em both..I don’t care who wins as long as they put on a good show..cuz I’ll be one pissed moFo after ordering the PPV, this turns out to be another one sided 8-round-straight-left-slaughter..or a 2 round palos-cabron!-hype-job…
Now let’s see how Cotto’s chin holds up...so far so good at 147..but they’re making him drop to what was it? 145?..and a few pounds give or take CAN make a significant difference especially since Cotto was chinny at 140 ( yeah I know, he never got KO’s, but he got dropped)…also, solely based on his most recent fights, Pac hits pretty freakin’ HARD …he actually carries that power up with him..so I’m a little skeptical of Cotto bein’ able to take hard shots from Pac to the chin, but hey, I surely hope so because Cotto has A LOT of heart!… I’d also like to see how Pac holds up to Cotto’s monster-@ss body shots …I can’t wait!

It's already translated in a separate link within this thread. He's basically saying that Figueroa didn't follow instructions in camp, and that he wanted mature fighters, not those who look to find themselves in sparring.

And now everyone has forgot about Miguel Cotto and has started talking about other fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, etc.

                    Why???

What happend in the past couple of years???

                    Ill tell you!

Miguel Cotto was destroying everyone in his way, beating fighters like Shane Mosley, Carlos Quintana, Paulie Malignaggi and Zab Judah. Then he loses.

But to who? Yess..Antonio Margarito, A man who was trouble for anyone because of his steel chin, his 150 punches a round attitude, and not to mention HIS BIG DIRTY CEMENTED FISTS!

Then he faces Micheal Jennings, Cotto stalked his prey like an Animal then knocked him out in the middle rounds. Easy work (hardly a big name but it was a return fight so its acceptable)

And then Joshua Clottey who he beat by Split descion. Let me tell you something about Joshua Clottey, Clottey is the most underrated fighter in the world. He destoryed Diego Corralles (Sorry Diego R.I.P). He got a stoppage win against the very slick Zab Judah. He was beating Carlos Baldomir (the man who beat Judah, Gatti, and shared a ring with "pretty boy" Floyd) untill a DQ caused the first loss on Clottey's record, which by the way was complete "BS". And finally was making Margarito look like a complete bum untill a hand injury which was self-evident when you seen Clottey throw about half of his punch output seen in previous rounds, which allowed Antonio Margarito (cheat) to throw over 1600 punches, the most ever thrown in a boxing match, counted by compubox.

During the fight Cotto knocked Clottey down in the first, then got a waterfall of blood gushing out his eye soon later in the third, And then he fought on to win a split descion against in my opinion, the most underrated fighter in Boxing. No shame in that!.

                    So to some up!!!

Cotto was the most feared man in boxing, the man everyone said Floyd Mayweather feared and was avoiding. He had wins over genuine superstars of the sport, Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Paulie Malignaggi, etc

He then goes up against Antonio Margarito a fighter who De La Hoya and Mayweather turned down big money to fight, due to his hard chin, non stop pressure, and his extremley high punch output, not to mention the fact we all now know about the illegal hand wraps (no proof he used it in the Cotto fight but because he tried to use it in the Mosley fight, we know that hes at least capiable of using them, and when you think about it, he is more likley to use them against Cotto who is the man that beat Mosley, rather than just using them on Mosley himself.

He then gets stopped, and goes on to face Jennings who he makes easy work of.

Then he faces the most underrated fighter in Boxing (in my opinion), where he knocked him down in the first and then won a split desion with a really bad cut caused in the third.

So why has the public eye changed when they look at Cotto? Because of two contreversial fights in a very beautiful legacy? Because he lost to a fighter who at the moment is banned from the sport for being a dirty cheater? Because he won a only close descion win against the most underrated fighter in Boxing with a bad cut over his eye, caused in only the third round?

                    Is that why?

I completely agree, but cotto has changed in the public eye only to those dumbasses that look at one fight and say oh he lost , and then he has a worthy oponent and he doesnt knock him out, Clottey is a tough son of a ***** that first of all is hard to hit cuz of his defense , throws monster punches , and has a crazy ****ing chin , and is huge, theres no shame on losing to margarito , his is ****ing good , his work rate , his style , his chin , his heart , his plaster????? u know , To me Cotto might not even be top 10 all time in the welterweights , but as of today he is definetly within top 3 , and is a guy to legitimate guy to beat to claim ur spot on the top of the division , cotto is not a push over for nobody , he took eleven rounds from margarito which is no walk in the park , he took clottey to 12 , won the last three , won three middle rounds , and had a knockdown in the first round , and then clottey cries , and cotto gets hated on , Pacquiao vs Cotto is a dream match , the biggest dream match in boxing today because , Cotto is the most exciting ww in the sport today , heart , courage , relentless , power , guts , so much to offer to fans , and he is not even that friendly with the public , he enjoys that **** himself , and pacquiao , wow , what can i say about pacquiao that nobody has heard of already , he is pretty amazing to watch , on of a kind , So you know , Pacquiao went up in weight , and is facing one of the top dogs in the division . and cotto is fighting a guy which has improved a lot since his begining and as of today , his career and his path in this sports puts him in the number #1 spot p4p. Somebody has to lose , it can be any body , this is pac's first ww test , and this is a brand new experience for Cotto. **** vargas , **** roach , and **** gato , Vargas is more one dimensional than cotto.I would love to see pacquiao and mayweather go up against clottey and margarito , Mayweather doesnt even have the balls. pacquiao does , but he hasnt faced nobody like that either.

So you telling me that this guy is right. So enlighten me how do you counter. I don't pretend to know everything cause I don't, but it is common sense. If you are a righty and short jab you step to your left and going to the left you at the outside of the lead foot of a lefty. Right hand for the righty is available (best weapon for a lefty), left hand fighter is out of position. Can you counter, yes but chances are the right hand is gonna get you more times than not. If you got the cash I'm willing only if your serious
