Comments Thread For: Don?t blink: Wardley-Dubois was a fight so good it became hard to watch
Elliot Worsell: Don?t blink, they said. Whatever you do, don?t blink. It wasn?t original, as far as taglines go, but that was how the fight between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois was sold

Although Duboise has the personality of a cardboard box.
The man puts up fun fights.
Can't wait for his next one.
Respect to Wardley for showing resilience in there.
Never once did he look like he wanted out.
Yes it was a great fight and Wardley showed tremendous courage but it still would have been a great fight had it been stopped before he took so many potentially life changing punches after he clearly had no chance to win the fight
Well matched from a barnstormer perspective - but big gap in skill level.
I really don't know where Fabio goes next. He can't fight at this level. It suited Warren and others to badge him as this Wilder type after the Huni fight but that understated just how amateurish he looked. He got punched from corner to corner for 99% of the fight.
I don't know how he did what he did to Parker. I've always defended Parker but I think he has to own the fact that Wardley was able to box with him.
This Dubois fight was very dangerous. A skilled and trained boxer with real power. I've no interest in seeing Wardley go to that kind of level again. It was uncomfortable watching him have no idea how to set up our change up his right hand - he just threw the same massive punch over and over without moving into range.
So what, he steps down a level? Can still make good money I suppose.
Wardley showed incredible courage late in the fight, and showed his power and timing is dangerous early in the fight. He is surely bankable, and earned a level of respect he just did not have in his victories. But that punishment he received may take a year off his earning potential, and he lost his belt. Even if he comes back 100% and not gun shy, he has to fight his way back to big money opportunities. And that is a big "if" he comes back 100% isn't it? Those are the kind of damages some fighters never fully recover from.
DuBois showed he can recover late in this fight if he keeps his head, but showed he is hittable and still prone to damage early in this fight. Yes, he is now back in the queue for a huge payday. He can write his ticket against any fighter he wants except for the Big Three (Usyk, Joshua, Fury) and has a third chance to rewrite his career narrative. But.... wow he went down early and often. Are any of the top HW's really worried to fight DuBois? Is he putting himself in a place to get hurt in the ring and worry about long term punishment as he ages and becomes even more a hittable fighter? In other words, for all the great in the short term this win does for him, maybe second only to blowing out Joshua, is it fools gold for him and his team? Does he end up building off this win, or getting crushed by a young talented fighter next?
So I will ask again.... Despite the sky high praise both men are rightfully getting after this war, can both men win and lose a fight?

Parker wasn't clearly 100%, he was doing coke lines the week before.
Wardley is a fun yet limited fighter, as all his fights have shown. His rock em sock em approach was not going to work always, especially against skilled boxers who could deal with his power and know how to use a jab.
