This article highlights the true 50-50 nature of this fight.
For instance against Joyce it was rather clear that if Dubois can put Joyce to sleep, he wins. But if he can’t then Joyce will drown him with volume.
Wardley vs anyone has always been about if he lands clean.
In this fight they both have mediocre-at-best defence and high power in their back hand. Both are therefore vulnerable and neither has clear advantages in any area of boxing.
So who lands first? Seems many pick Dubois bcs of his background. Frazer Clarke said Dubois has an excellent jab. But against Joyce he lost the jab battle from the first round. So is that a skill issue or an execution issue under pressure? Either way it is not as obvious as some make it out to be.
In these kinds of fights one aspect is also the damage that each fighter has accumulated. Even in this aspect they are evenly matched. Wardley took a lot of punishment in his recent fights with Parker and Huni as well as the first Clarke bout. However Dubois has taken his own fair share of punches to the attic against Joyce, Hrgovic and Usyk.
Bcs of all this it is so hard to pick a winner. But I’ll pick Wardley due to his confidence. However that’s a 55-45 kinda pick.
Wardley is going to destroy DDD. Maybe first round, but likely 2-4.
He'll end it very early.
DDD and Don Charles are too basic. They think they can walk through everyone... But Wardley waits on those counters and then unleashes them full force with speed.
DDD just doesn't have the discipline to box behind his jab patiently and doesn't have the footwork Huni had to cause Fabio problems.
