Comments Thread For: Dave Allen understands the dangers of facing Filip Hrgovic
When it was announced last week that Dave Allen would face Filip Hrgovic, many were surprised to see Allen step in with such a high-level operator so soon after his previous outing.

I don't like this fight at all. It makes no sense to me at least.
Dave himself has said his world title would be a British title and he's up front about his level. We have Jamie TKV as champ. Allen could well beat him.
That would sell out this venue. The risk is lesser and the fight is more competitive. It would be a zenith of his career.
S.hit match making and it's not like Allen gets blown out either. He's harder than a coffin nail. So 2 fights in a row he's getting blasted by huge men and creating enough moments to ensure he's in there all night.
Dave Allen has fought bigger power punches, but? The last real time he fought a solid skill for skill boxer was actually David Price 'and during that fight Allen could not win any rounds'.
Note: Dave Allen has never skill for skill been a great boxer, his entire game is to survive 'out last his opponents and then maybe land some big punches that ether alter the direction of the fight. When Allen starts fighting at a higher level, those are his tactics every single time'.
So I think a good performance from Dave Allen in this fight, would be survive the full 12 rounds 'which in my opinion is not impossible. Filip Hrgovic is not a monster puncher at heavyweight, and he may find it difficult to stop Allen'.
To conclude: Filip Hrgovic has solid boxing skills and is very durable himself' so this fight is not the same dynamic and contrast like Dave Allen vs. Johnny Fisher i.e. In that fight Fisher was rated as a power puncher, but his durability and even his boxing skills were not really rated super high'.
Overall I don't think this is the most dangerous fight Dave Allen has ever fought, but stylistically it is a very difficult fight for him to win 'Filip Hrgovic is the better skill for skill boxer, and he may even be as durable as Allen' etc.
This is a "Hrgovic gets his name back out there" fight. A ref stoppage within 12 to protect Allen and get a KO for the "A" side. The check will clear, both men will move on. Hrgovic is still a name, and still has a chance to carve out a place for himself among the better wage earners. But he needs a few wins to make himself bankable. This is that kind of set up.
