The only fight I don't give him all that much credit for in recent years is Baldomir. It was an uninspired choice.. Though Baldy did beat Judah.

Mayweather is a great Super Featherweight but has cherry picked oposition since then.
It's not that people are denying him his just do, it's that he is denying himself it.
The De La Hoya fight was a great business move, but legacy wise it does nothing.

De La Hoya pre-Mayweather fight hadn't had a segnificant win in years, despite a very one dimensional Mayorga. Look at his record before that: Hopkins L, Sturm L (even though he won it on the scorecards he didn't really win that fight) Mosley L.
Since people fixate so much on weight, I think the fact that Mayweather moved up in weight to fight a naturally bigger man in Oscar speaks for itself. That fight did challenge Floyd a bit. It wasn't a blowout slugfest, no..it was a tactical match in which Mayweather slowly adapted to DLH's size and physical imposition.. and started to slip counters in amongst DLH's flurries. The DLH that PBF fought was far more dangerous the the DLH Pac fought, if we are keeping track.

Coming into the fight Hatton had struggled with Collazo & Urango.
He looked impressive against Castillo, but by the time Hatton fought Castillo he was a shell of a man.
As I said before.. This is all said in hindsight. Its infinitely easy to criticize in hindsight. At the Mayweather/Gatti fight, they had Hatton on the high hog as a possible Mayweather opponent..HBO was saying his name above Cotto's or anyone else's. Hatton was an undefeated fighter when he met PBF, regardless of whether others had given him fits or not.

How magnanimous of you. But Floyd did not lose that first fight. The announcers were very anti floyd in the first Castillo fight. They were not fully appreciative of his defensive style. Giving credit, as well was compubox, for shots Castillo threw that floyd blocked on his gloves, forearms, and picked the rest off with core and foot mobility paired with the shoulderoll.. Castillo landed a few flush shots... mostly body shots. But nothing to represent the announcers' accolades of that night, or compubox's numbers.

You would NEVER see Cotto fighting top 30 guys at Middleweight, yet you call Mayweather bluff because he is not fighting top 5 guys in his 4th weight class.

      So..what else is new?
So I'm guessing by your logic Manny is FAR MORE superior then Floyd? Manny fought all the top 3 FW and SFWs and is now fighting who many people regard as the #1 WW in Cotto which is in Manny's 7th WEIGHTCLASS.

Look, Floyd called out all the top WWs by saying he is the best, do you think you can become the best WW if you don't fight the best WWs? Of course if Mayweather isn't the best WW then he has all the right to not fight Mosley or Cotto, is he the best WW?

He shouldn't have to fight any more great fighters.

He should just be titled p4p greatest ever and just take money fights from now on until whenever he feels like retiring. Because that's whats so great about the sport of boxing, you make a name for yourself and rest on your laurels. The present and future is overrated.

What we have to remember is he wanted to fight a lot of guys who didn't want a piece of him....He was boldly calling out other fighter including saying he'd be willing to go up to 154 and fight Oscar back when he was at 135/140.

He is surely going to fight the winner of Pac/Cotto so instead of wasting our breath gettin pent up thinkin about who he might duck why don't we just wait and give him a chance to actually duck them.

Anything said about Floyd seems to provoke such a ridiculous reaction e.g. Hatton's recent quotes...people are talking as if Floyd said something about fighting Ricky. He didn't take the Oscar rematch when he could have did he?

Floyd is by far the most talented boxer in the sport but i think the reason the Pacquiaos and Cotto's get more love from the hardcore fans is that they have endeared themselves to us by being in so many great fights and have provided some truly great fights for our entertainment

when was the last fight you watched of Floyd that was actually enjoyable to watch?

the last one i can think of is maybe against Corley or Judah

Pacman has provided so many great moments you could watch 12 rounds of Mayweather and not get the kind of excitment Pacquaio provides in one round

Mayweathers achievements in the sport are no small feet by any means but his demeanor and attitude let him down consistently

like he acts like he is the richest boxer ever flashing his money like a prick and can't even pay his taxes properley then you have De La Hoya who has made WAY more money then Floyd but you don't see him acting ignorant with it.

i can respect Mayweather's skills in the ring but he still ain't fought no one who has at least a chance of landing a big punch and knocking him down

Corrales and Hatton were big punchers but not great boxers, castillo was a warrior(who beat Mayweather in their first fight but didn't get the decsion) but not skilled enough, gatti was never in Mayweathers league and De La Hoya was past it by that stage although he gave a good account of himself because he was so determined in that fight much more so then against Forbes or Pacquaio

i think Floyd's problems with his hands have also played a big part in how he has fought in quite a few fights nothing you can do about that though

let see what happens with Cotto Pacman before we start saying who Floyd should fight. i would still like to see him face Mosley though but he never will

its not just the people floyd's beat but the way he beat them. everybody knows he coulda knocked out marquez.. and we will see when he ends up knocking out bigger badder fighters. we've seen how well he keeps his composure under pressure. he's had tough fights before. the bigger people are the slower they are

Just 3, Pacquiao, Mosley, and Williams. If he beats all three then he has a legitimate claim of being up there with SRL, SRR, Armstrong and the like, but only then.
