You love giving Canelo excuses to DUCK. Basically ALL boxers walk around at a lot higher weight than what they fight at. Then they go into training camp and reduce that weight. Then they cut weight. Then they rehydrate. But the rehydration weight isn't their walk around weight. Even if Benavidez is walking around at 225, which I don't believe he his, he's not rehydrating to 225. At 175 he is probably rehydrating to 200. At 168 probably 190. And that's probably only 5 or 8 lbs more than Canelo. If you have to cut too much weight to make weight you're going to have all sorts of problems. That's why a lot of fights get cancelled. Guys passing out, being dehydrated, etc. Vergil Ortiz suffered from rhabdomyolysis, likely at least partially caused by trying to make 147. So, it's actually a detriment to be too far off of weight, not an advantage.
But all of that doesn't matter. Simply put, if you can make weight in division, that's LEGIT. And, as Champion, you need to face your mandatories. If you don't want to, drop the belts.
Btw, and this isn't the first time I've said it, Canelo had a GREAT run to become undisputed champion at 168. Very impressive. And if Benavidez didn't blow weight and lose his belt on the scale then Canelo couldn't have avoided him to become undisputed.
